The Music Banter Members' Journals Update Thread, November 2017
You may noticed I've lost a little weight, due to overwork and personal stuff happening at home. But I'm still here to guide you through what those who can still be bothered updating their journals have written over the last month, so let's get to it before I fade away... Batty kicks us off with his top ten tracks played this month, which rather surprisingly, features quite a lot of Kesha. Read all about it here http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...ite-about.html or, if you have any musical taste at all, avoid it like the plague. But if you really won't be told, then head over to http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...s-journal.html where he's reviewing the entire new Kesha album. Hold me back. A new job for Goofle means a new journal, and in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...aves-safe.html he's going to be giving us a rundown of the gigs and festivals he works security on, kicking off with Slowdive at ... well, he doesn't say where. But then Mister Goofle Goes to Glastonbury. Read on, and weep, ye who were not there. Like me. I don't care. But you probably do. If Ked is following Mord into self-imposed exile from here (see further), then she's left one hell of a journal entry to remember her by in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...puc-scale.html! You'll usually find weird and often wonderful artists in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...ong-picks.html and this month is no exception, with The Dark Element , Luar Na Lubre, Nightwish, Men at Work, Vuur, Marillion (yay!), Calan, The Agonist and a full review of the new Tori Amos. Those bands mentioned aren't all he has this month, there just simply isn't enough room to list them all, so go check his journal out. Mord continues to try to educate us to some of his favourite artists in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...um-musica.html, including Anais Mitchell, Rich Mullins, Mumford and Sons (!), Nest, Of Monsters and Men, Penguin Cafe Orchestra and the usual slew (and I mean slew: we're talking pages and pages here!) of other artists. And it seems his journal is over, for now. Taking a long break, though for how long he don't say. Hey, we'll miss ya, ya crazy Christian! http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...dern-rock.html has a feature on 7 Seconds, while in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...antiquity.html there are Grannies about... Philip Jeck, Bill Dixon, and a whole lot of close-to-porno on http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...p-lighter.html. Oh, and fuck Tim O'Reilly. Apparently. http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...crap-heap.html is back, with some love for Holst and his Planets Suite. A new journal from Rubber Soul as he promises to spill on his experiences in this writer's forum he belonged/still belongs to in http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...mb-sooner.html. And now, appearing for I believe the first time in it's Elphenor, with this rather good advice: Quote:
I'm gonna give to MicShazam, who has really been putting in some serious work on his journal Unnecessary Quote of the Month (haven't had the time/can't be arsed to create a logo yet) goes to Mindfulness. Not only did he quote the entire post of Batty's exhaustive review of Kesha's Animal to reply, but ALL the videos too. And all he added was a clapping emoticon. Jeez man: don't you know you can edit your quote? You don't need to include the whole thing! Funny Post of the Month is again a sort of exchange. There's no point posting just the one reply; it's much funnier when you read the whole thing. From Mord's now-on-hold Journal, but courtesy of his better half: As usual, it was Batty who kicked things off with this comment Quote:

on behalf of everyone here to Mord (and, I guess, Ked) who have taken a sabbatical from the forum, hopefully not a permanent one. We wish you both well and hope to see you back here at some point in time. Meanwhile, rest assured, we'll work on corrupting your daughter to the best of our collective ability! Sayonara! Till next month, Toodles!

Year. Not month. Year. Even I couldn't listen to that much Kesha in a month.

This was a good one! Most unecessary quote of the month was especially hilarious
Another thing I like about these summaries is that I always manage to miss something good in the journals section. As for the workhorse of the month award, I'd like to thank my parents, the voices in my head and having no life. In defence of anyone who didn't win this prestigious award I'd like to point out that my journal is mostly just me posting a wad of Youtube links. I'd like to do more writing if I could stop being so lazy. |
