Hmm, then I don't understand. I'd say at least half of that list is worse than Tyler

Janszoon, do you like Sex Style, because I feel that that album and the OF gang's style are pretty similar (with the exception of the beats).

The second one is Earl.

I think its a little bit harsh to say that the rapping is generic. It's more of an acquired taste.

I'm sorry if it seems harsh to you but I just listened the Earl track (I've already heard the Tyler track) and I find the rapping extremely generic. Sounds like a 16 year old kid who hasn't figured out a unique style yet, which is basically what he is. All around the world there are no doubt millions of teenagers recording generic hip hop like this in their bedrooms, I'm unclear on why this particular one has been singled out as being of interest.

Sex Style is decent but I prefer Dr. Octagonecologyst and First Come First Served. I don't really see the similarity though. The music is completely different, Kool Keith's style of rapping is extremely unique, and his lyrics are bizarre but certainly not boring.

Strange. What about him is so compelling to you?

Phantom Limb 01-07-2011 12:15 PM

Generic would be to talk about getting drunk and how many hoes you've got or your bling, not duct-taping bitches up and then raping them. But i totally understand why you don't like these guys. I didn't like this crew when I first started listening to them either.

Well, he has a pretty impeccable flow, and the beats have refreshing grittiness that I haven't come across in a while. Similarly like how you like cLOUDDEAD, and I don't really fancy him. Maybe it's something comparable. But I honestly love Tyler's style. Maybe it's an agree to disagree type situation :S

br00tal flow and lyrics, fuk da haterz, this a pretty good album. I give it 7.8/10

I would say both of those things are generic sounding, but regardless I was using the word "generic" to describe the rapping, not the lyrics.
