i'd compare it more to the 80s DIY punk movement tbh, seeing as they've been producing their own music, getting their own shows and making their own videos/posters/merch without the help of a major label.

Earl's album is not bad.

It's great to see someone like Tyler just not giving a **** and having the freedom to do what he wants. He obviously doesn't feel any constraints at this point in the game.

I think it's funny how Tyler is both anti-mainstream and anti-anti-mainstream too. He's got no problems saying stuff like Bieber is chill. Basically he just does whatever the **** he wants. lol

I like Odd Future, I appreciate the rawness of Tyler's production and the creative freedom they expel through their music, but I dont understand the hype they're getting at the moment. The lyrics often sound stupid and contrived purely for shock value, whilst the music in my opinion doesnt hold up too well on repeated listens.

I appreciate they have this cool persona thing going on, and I do like what they're doing, there's just many more hip hop acts out there that do/have done a similiar thing that get nowhere near the kudos these guys do.

Maybe this should go in the 'unpopular music opinions' thread.

I don't know about this part. I can't think of too many artists with similar swag or sound.

I agree with the rest, they're music is in no way revolutionary, it's cool having some anti-establishment in commercial hip hop again though.

The whole fucking swag thing pisses me off. It's just a gimmick man, a lame catchphrase. And there are various groups/artists within the 'horrorcore' subgenre that do it better. Gravediggaz, Kool Keith, Cage and Necro spring to mind immediately.
