i'm not just talking about music cliques or whatever. i'm saying that people make assumptions about other people all the time based on race, sex, appearance, religion, etc. anyone who says they don't is either a saint or a liar. to me, at its core, that's basically what racism boils down to. a sort of tribal mentality. it was useful once upon a time when we were in actual tribes and now it is just a sort of vestigial artifact that still manifests itself in our behavior. there are varying degrees to it and so basically the best you can hope for is to keep it in check. that's why i say it isn't just you are or you aren't.
