To compare the two is a little disingenuous. Ethan was an insufferable grandstander who was far too cock-sure of himself (as all cult leaders are) and never ever looked at the other side of the coin.

Urban is no more comparable to Ethan than Marilyn Manson was to Charles Manson. I'll give you that people have a strong affinity to Urban, but its because of a mutual set of interests (in my opinion).

The flittering zombies that followed Ethan just wanted to suck the cock of a face-less idealized emotional state. There was nothing concrete about him or the creatures that followed him or whatever their implied interests were. It was leetspeak, and Bright Eyes/Elliot Smith fanboi-ism, and some sort of clothing scene planted between hipsters and hippies. It was nothing else, and whatever you think of Urban, its resoundingly unfair to compare him to that.
