The point some people seem to be missing is that we don't use black and white moderation.
If we stuck strictly to the rules, a lot of this community would have been banned long ago, and this place would be the North Korea of the internet.
Most of the people here are adults and have been here long enough to know where the line is. We trust most of you guys to be able to police yourselves and not need a moderator to tell you when enough is enough. On the rare occasion we do, that's when we step in.

So yea, we let a lot of stuff slide. And we also hold ourselves to the same standards we hold the community to, so we don't expect to be called out when we enjoy the same leniency we afford our members.
We do have the responsibility of setting an example for the rest of the forum, and we have not failed in that regard. If we expected the community to rigidly follow the written rules at all times or expect punishment otherwise, then we would do so as well. But since that's not realistic and would be the wrong way to run this place, we address PROBLEMS. And, to my knowledge, the last moderator to ever present a problem got kicked out of the team and banned.

I don't think we'd have to put Urban's worth and actions on trial here to know what the overwhelming consensus would be, and it has nothing to do with sucking up.
