I'm afraid it's time to go. I'm very sorry, but I didn't feel like coming back so much the last couple of days and reading the stuff Freebase Dali says (I thought he thought I was quite allright), well to be honest it hurts like hell to be so misunderstood.
Hey man, I was just pullin' your leg about being a pedo and paying attention to women and such. I like you man, your posts are well thought out and well constructed. I do like you man, I don't ignore your posts or anything. If you feel like you're misunderstood and are unhappy, then maybe you should take a break like I did. Do whatever will make you feel better and I will respect whatever you decide to do.

I think you're alright, although I must say what you said about women in music in this thread, http://www.musicbanter.com/general-m...s-singers.html, bothered me a little. Perhaps it was because I didn't fully understand where you were coming from, or perhaps it's because I'm a woman. I don't know. I just think it's kind of crazy and even a little bit sexist to entirely disregard women who make music or play instruments, or whatever. You are, however, allowed to have an opinion. I'll just leave it at that.

I'm sorry you don't feel welcome here any more. I hope you don't go away forever.

If you're here to be liked, then perhaps you're here for the wrong reasons. I think you'd do very well here if you focused more on your quality contributions (which we all appreciate) and whatever else you take away from this place musically... and less on whether everyone considers you a saint. The fact that you're getting negative feedback at all is probably a direct result of that tendency.

Vanilla, I'm sorry but you don't know anything about what genres I listen to and like. You have no idea what my taste in music is.

I will take this time to tell you the genres of music that I listened to before arrive and the few genres that I have discovered and started to like here. I don't post about every genre that I like/listen to

Ready?

I listen to Nu Metal, Indie Rock, Noise Rock, Symphonic Metal, Jazz, Classical, Soul, Funk, DubStep, Trance but those last two I got into more from hanging around MusicBanter. Black Eyed Peas actually got me interested in learning more about Electronica. I saw a void missing that there wasn't any education threads about Electronica, so I made one by collecting all the information about different sub genres. I had Freebase to help me out as well as CnwllCaffe hmm spelled his name wrong but yeah, he knows I'm talking about him.

Punk is a genre that I wanted to try to get into more that's why I joined James' punk club but that has come to a slow grind/halt.

I also listen to pop country and soundtracks to different movies.

After all these years you know NOTHING about my taste in music because you choose not to either talk to me and find out or you've never paid attention the threads I have posted in.

I feel it is indicative that there is truth in Dali's post that you are so disheartened by his words you feel entirely unwelcome and wish to leave. You do not seem unwelcome here by any standards that I have seen. Perhaps some time off is necessary, to regroup from this negativity you are perceiving.

Well allright, I might cause some trouble here but I'm going to say it anyhow.
I just got some really very nice PM's from three different persons in no time. I was amazed by that because I am in fact a very pessimistic person and the negative stuff weighs so much heavier on me.

Listen Freebase. This topic is called spill your guts and for the first time I am actually going to say what I think right now.

The reason I cannot keep a job is because there's always one or another shallow guy like you amongst the team of bosses who cannot accept me for what I am, cannot see my good sides but just the bad sides. Who cannot just say 'Stijn is who Stijn is, we should learn to live with hem'. All they see is 'he's different, he's weird'.

The whole reason I cannot keep a job is because at any job there's at least one person who cannot or does not want to understand me. This ****s up my jobs. I'm not saying I'm an easy one to live with, but I sure as hell can tell you that the reason stuff goes wrong for me usually depends on one person who, for a reason they often don't even understand themselves, rather see me gone.

I might be the one who differs, but it's still ****ing society that's making it impossible for me to have a proper job, not me.

So, Freebase. Long story short; You are apparently not able to see through my somewhat strange appearance. Well that's fine. I cannot help that and neither can you. But you haven't got a clue what you're talking about and you probably really should keep your mouth shut as you're only making it hard for me here, even though you could just not read my postings or whatever. It's not like I've ever done anything to annoy you in particular or something.

And sure as hell I cannot stand when people think negatively about me.
How do you think my life has been so far? Don't you think I've had quite enough negativity? You bet your ass I've had enough of that.

So ffs if you don't like me ****ing ignore me or just tell me to **** off if you don't like me. But stop analyzing my personality because you don't know **** about what I was like, how I've become and what I've went through so far.

@ Burning Down: I don't like the sound of most female voices just like I don't like the sound of most church organs. That's all. It's a musical thing, nothing sexist so if that's all you're bothered about, I suggest you quickly forget this. I love women. I prefer them to men in almost every way and I don't mean that sexist, again.

@ Freebases latest addition: I'm may not be here to be liked, but I'm definitely not here to be disliked or to be treated unfriendly.

@ Loose Lips: Dude, not you. Really not you.

@ Pedestrian: There's nothing indicative about me being hurt. How would you feel if you had to fight a handicap for your entire life, and then have people telling you you're taking advantage of it?
And I'm not going to take time off, I'm going to stay or go. The only reason I haven't gone yet is that I got these nice PM's. I really already had written my farewell posting. I think I still will though. Freebase is very very wrong and he already got quite some support. So I don't think this is the place for me.

Nothing personal, but this is kind of the pot calling the kettle "Black", to be frank.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

I think many members are here to promote or hear about lesser known bands but they are also upfront about listening to some mainstream music too.
Couldn't agree more.
What attracted me to this forum was the lack of mainstream taste without an obvious elitist overtone.
I enjoyed coming here because at the time the site was populated with individuals who shared an interest in a wide choice of music.
I was always impressed especially by some of the younger members who showed great knowledge and appreciation for music that quite clearly didn't belong to their generation.
A trait this site still has but not as evident as say 5 years ago.

I was going to make a long list of what it is I think of MB members, but then I realised I'd probably only include the members who've been here for years due to the fact that the personalities of the latest batch are below my radar as I don't pay as much notice to this place as I once did.

It would serve me better would I spill my guts about what I thought about MB today compared to how it used to be.

But then I'd have to leave!

Meh, everyone just wants to be the center of attention. If you want to be the talk of the town, you have to be interacting with everyone here constantly, otherwise you won't get mentioned on threads like this.

Hell, I should know: I've been mentioned maybe once or twice at most in the last 25 pages, so I know what happens when you aren't constantly doing stuff here. :P

Probably the same with myself but do you think it's an age thing where you have a slight case of egotism (warranted or not)?

I certainly do. You can't help but feel this way. Just like your dad turned around to you at 15 and said- u don't know **** son.

I thought he was talking bollocks but of course he was right and I feel like that with the forum but it is probably me who has changed and not the people frequenting it.

That doesn't excuse the sheer amount of tools I have come across on MB though!
