djchameleon: overall a decent guy, but your taste is atrocious. I also don't like how you're always going on about my pretentious taste in music and whatever and how maybe I should get into pop music. I think you might actually be jealous of my musical taste.

Really? I joined this site with the assumption there were a ton of music snobs around who could point me in the direction of some awesome music. Of course we have taste standards. I kind of thought everyone assumed this. Otherwise, we would have a giant disclaimer at the top of the home page going, "WARNING: This site is frequented by a bunch of music elitists. We will make fun of your taste in music".

Sorry this is getting off topic but yeah

The average person that just wants to come to a music forum to talk about the music and artists they listen to are NOT going to just assume that there are a bunch of music elitists on the boards that will slam their taste and shame them for it. Yes if you are a veteran with dealing with music boards of course you'll know that but the average joe, everyday person that found MB through google looking to talk about artists/bands that they currently like isn't going to be well versed in the world of music forums.

I remember when I signed up, I thought the lack of elitism compared to other forums I then frequented was refreshing.

DJ: FYI: I came to music banter to discover NEW music, and gain a better taste in sound. I.e. I listened to rubbish when I first joined. Just because you're a so called 'veteran' doesn't mean you have applied this concept. Infact I see very little of you expanding yourself in music threads. Rap and pop are not the only two genres in the world.

I'm saying this to benefit you, at the end of the day you will be the one giddy with excitement from discovering a new band etc and that you joining mb was more than just a SOCIAL PLATFORM.

I remember when I first started actively posting, I caught some flak from the more blunt members (Paloma, Stunt, James) about my taste, but in general I think this forum does really well at not being too elitist to the point where it's intimidating and unwelcoming.

I agree with this. Also, even if people are elitist about taste, it pays off cause then you can be elitist to your real life friends. Or just have better taste.

Exactly. It is certainly not a run of the mill mainstream forum where people just talk about whatever is hanging around the top 40 or whatever but neither is it (generally) the sort of place where 8 out of 10 people listen to obscure music all the time and claim elitism over those who haven't heard those artists.

I think many members are here to promote or hear about lesser known bands but they are also upfront about listening to some mainstream music too.

Or maybe dj has listened to the music that the rest of you have given him and decides that he still likes rap & pop. I haven't liked every single recommendation that has come across my way.

Hm, I dunno guys.
There's a lot of negativism against me, lately.
Even the people who seemed to like me in the beginning, start to turn their backs on me.
I'm not sure what goes wrong, but people have a very wrong idea about me.

I'm afraid it's time to go. I'm very sorry, but I didn't feel like coming back so much the last couple of days and reading the stuff Freebase Dali says (I thought he thought I was quite allright), well to be honest it hurts like hell to be so misunderstood.
