You wanna stop acting like a patronizing twat for a second? Seriously, no one needs that. Much like your can-do-no-wrong attitude, it's not helping your argument and speaks less of you than it does me. It doesn't matter how you meant it. The fact is it's an offensive term and you seem to think it's okay to use anyways simply because you don't mean it in a harmful way. Granted, you apparently didn't know that at the time but you don't seem to care, as evidenced in:

@JWB: I actually know a few transgendered people who went into the porno business thinking it was something other than what it wound up being for them and who had very, very, very negative experience(s). Not to say that there isn't pornography staring trans people that isn't extremely shady but from what I've been made to understand the vast majority of it is seedy at best. Edit: I misread the quote, FD. My bad. Though I would still consider the term and your attitude thus far beneath you regardless of your intentions. Also, I had a point behind that tidbit about trans porn but I forgot what it was while writing the background info. I'll come back to it if it seems relevant.

i honestly can't speak on tranny porn i'm just saying porn in general is probably exploitative but the people basically take it on themselves so its really just like any other **** job. you basically rent your body to somebody else for a given rate in just about any dead end job i can think of. what is and isn't demeaning is completely a matter of perspective

1. Should people be less sensitive? 2. Should people be less abrasive? You only need one of those options, however, only one of them actually make sense in a personal development way. The other only makes sense in a way that accepts the world as it is. And that's option 2. Sure, I can be less abrasive. I usually am. In fact, I say none of the things I have said in this thread anywhere in my life, internet or not. But in this thread, well, it was created for just that reason. So, yes, I understand that people are not just going to flip a switch and become less sensitive. But in the one single place on the entire internet for me to not have to censor myself, I don't expect option 2 to be a factor on the account of option 1. That's really all there is to it. No one is forcing recipients to read this thread. It's a choice. Much like my choice. If anything, I'd more expect that people complain I'm a horrible person for holding the opinions in the first place, rather than using a venue specifically designed for expressing them. At least that much, I'd understand.

No it's giving an open invitation for the people who want to be nasty to continue being nasty without causing 4 pages of bullshit, and it gives the rest of the people who come here to say nice things about other people the opportunity to not have to read 4 pages of bullshit.
Nasty comments already happen. This cuts down on drama. Ok, that makes sense.
