No. She spoke almost entirely in jargon that sounded like it'd come straight out of some pamphlet. She was about as above average intelligence as most other people on this site, but used buzz words to make herself look smarter and better informed than she really was.

Can I ask, why it's so shocking that I am a republican.

I just want to point out not every person that votes right, is an asshole. I am a loose conservative. I have been one since I was little. When a rudimentary explanation of politics was laid out for me. Vote right less government, vote left big government. Now, I as a 30 yr old grown woman I am more of a patriot then anything else. Hardcore. And that is from life experiences, having lived in the third world and seeing death and devastation beyond what I ever knew existed. I love this country and I'd die for her. But don't ever think that I wouldn't turn on my government, or her people for standing on the neck of lady liberty. Because I would, in hot minute. I used to think that the only way to fight the power was to stick out, and hoot and holler like every young rebel without a clue. But I learned that the older you get the more you need to blend in, in order to do real damage. I just choose to hold on to as much of my money, as I can, I work for what I have and I WILL NOT BE ROBBED MY GOVERNMENT and forced to give my **** away. Because see that doesn't come from my heart, and my soul, there for it makes me a disingenuous do gooder without my consent. If I help people (and believe this I do every ****ing day of my life) It should be a decision I make from my heart, otherwise it is meaningless.

I'm on a phone so I can't respond to this as thoroughly as I'd like, but very briefly, three responses to your last point. First, I have no idea how much money you have, but it isn't necessarily the case that a Republican government means lower taxes for you. To some extent it's an issue of what's spent where, and if you'd like a tiny bit less spent on the military and a tiny bit more spent on helping those in need, I'd suggest voting for the Democrats. Second, the government has the means to do good far beyond what you do. This isn't to belittle anything you do to help people, but the government has the ability to do things that you simply can't. Third, to this argument about how it isn't real good being done because your heart isn't in it, try telling that to the people (hint: everyone) who are helped by tax revenue. "Well, I would have loved for your kids to have schools that aren't falling apart, for your roads to not be filled with potholes, for you to be able to feed your family, but I thought tax money wouldn't actually make a difference unless my heart was really in it."

Tl;dr: You might have the privilege of saying you don't want to pay taxes because you don't think you do good by paying them, but I'm telling you that none of this is meaningless to the people who are helped.

Of course, all of this assumes that your thoughts on the two parties, which I disagree with, are right, but whatever.
