i just have a few minutes, so i'll add too this later
satch mikey is one of my very fav people, not just posters,.....aside from the obvious things about him, pointed out already here,.....he should realize that he is capable of so much more,...and move back to va (not gonna let that one slide),.....he doesnt try to hard, and is very genuine,.....which seems to be a lost virtue these days bane liked jawbreaker,....so he cant be all that bad,.....have fun on your trip, i didnt know that you cribbed the idea raindog b questions himself too much but also revels in the mysterious persona,.......i think he likes being fitzgerldesque,.....and it works for him vertical at first,...honestly,....i thought he was a dbag,....then i just figured he was much more dry than i originally assessed,......now that i know that, his post make me chuckle, even if he likes his women pale pobody has become a new favorite,.....thanks for the music, empathy, and laughs,....he is very givin of himself to other posters on the board,.....all ways had good feed back,.....and is quick to share his music collection with you i'll add more to this later,...or not,..... while i understand that there are many posters on this board, i rarely find myself separating ideas,.....there are very few that i take personality into account when reading posts, and i try and take each comment as if it was the first i've read from that poster,......does that mean i'm objective?

I always thought I had posted in this thread loads but upon review, I now see I have only ever posted one big list(and most of those people are now dead) so I will do a rough one about the current active members.
Mighty Salami - The guy gets a lot of criticism for being a suck up or trying too hard. I think a lot of it is undeserved. He's an extremely nice fellow and although he can come on a little strong it only demonstrates his enthusiasm. Very keen and friendly. Above - Undeniably a very interesting person and quite unique in comparison to many other members. Can however be very harsh and mean sometimes, don't agree with her approach to conflict. Overall though, really cool. Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra - I used to think he was pretentious and douchey but I was wrong. Very nice, smart and a huge contributor. Paloma and Unchained Ballad - My two best friends here. Have been for a while and look to be in the foreseeable future. I could talk to them for hours and hours. Not got a bad word to say about either of them. Probably the only folk here I consider genuine friends rather than "internet friends" atm. bob. - Amazing guy. Outstanding knowledge of music and just in general a fascinating bloke. Despite this he's always extremely nice, never comes across as cocky or prtentious or anything. One of my favourites around here and the sight would not be the same without him. Il Duce - I don't get it. I don't find him funny. I don't find him interesting. I find him creepy and he makes me want to vomit. He has like 6000 posts and I think I have cringed at at least half of them. Trollheart - Lots of respect for this guy. He is so devoted to posting in his journal and giving feedback to other journals. His life must revolve around music for him to give it so much time and I really appreciate that. Quite an eccentric personality too. The Mods - I think the current mod team are great. I don't dislike any of them and tbh the ones I have spoken to are legends. Very good at their jobs, I never see any problems. Couldn't be arsed writing them all seperate :P Sneer - I'd never really encountered him before recently. Cool guy with a great music taste and lots of knowledge. Kayleigh - My fellow Scottish member, others come and go but we're the most active. Amazingly nice person and has a great sense of humour too, always up for a bit of banter. Zer0 - I love his journal. Amazing taste, good writer and I have never seen him come across as anything other than a nice guy. ThePhanastasio - Another member I can't think of any bad points for. Really nice, funny, interesting and most of all just incredibly cool. Also clearly very talented and creative and such as we can tell from her writing and work in theatre and the like. Tumor - Me and Tumor have a kind of Love/Hate relationship. It's a lot of fun. She's not nice in the slightest and can be downright rude but I like her a lot. She's a barrel of laughs. Hope I haven't forgot too many people! And a moment of silence for great MBers that have sadly gone awol..... NumberNineDream, AwwSugar, +81, TheCunningStunt, downwardspiral, clutnuckle, dankrsta, bannister. Gone, but never forgotten. |

Ok, before I clear off for a while (to the delight of Urban), I'll say a few words about some members I've met over the last three months: Urban Hatemonger: I'm not trying to lie here at all, or seem unnecessarily complementary for the purpose of "sucking up", but I do genuinely like you. You are the funniest member here, I've found everything you've written to be informative and helpful, even that guide to The Fall, which I thought was a very good series of reviews. And like it or not, our musical compatibility is "super high" according to LastFM. I know a lot of people don't really like you, but I do. All your little digs at me were lighthearted and very amusing, even if I'm still scared stiff of you. James: Thanks for saying that. Since first meeting you, I've considered you very friendly and polite. You have some pretty fantastic music in your collection too, so you're definitely one of my favourite members here. blastingas10: Sadly not many people like him here, and this is unmerited in my opinion. I know he can get angry sometimes, but he actually knows quite a lot about music, and I find myself in agreement with him most of the time. Perhaps some of the things he writes about are controversial, but I think he can contribute quite a lot in this forum. Garret: despite having little to say, every recommendation he makes has been excellent. In fact, possibly the best music I've heard all year was posted by him. He's clearly got a huge knowledge of music and I think he might have some of the best tastes on this site. The Phanastasio: Please let that be the right name. You're another of my favourite members here. I think you really know a lot more than you're given credit for, and I feel sorry for all the horrible things going wrong in your life. Although our musical tastes are completely dissimilar, I still listen with great interest to anything you say. Aurora: I can't believe she's one of my neighbours! Well, back up in Scotland she is. And a neighbour in Scotland is anyone within a 30 mile radius. The point is, she is a really really nice person and I love her. Now for some less friendly ones: Above: I'd like to make it clear that I don't follow you around and I am not trying to win your favour in any way. There's only one person here who I am trying to win the favour of, and that is duga(don't ask me why, I just feel like it). I don't think that trying to impress people is a good thing, and I'll assure you it's not my aim. It would amount to nothing anyway, since this is merely a music forum. The reason we I might seem to be a little too "matey" as you out it is that we do tend to have the same opinions over certain aspects of human rights, and this is entirely coincidental. I'm not accusing you of anything, or trying to win "brownie points". Just don't take it personally. Bane of Your Existence: Why yes, you are. That was an awful joke because I don't want to waste anything better on you. Captain Ron: Anyone who thinks I'm creepy seriously needs to check this guy out. Even for a troll he's creepy. All the spammers that were online on Christmas day: you guys seriously need to get yourselves a life. That will do for me. |

![]() I never tried to make friends, I came here to talk about music. As for Garret, I agree with what you've said. I know some people don't like how he doesn't say much, but I don't have a problem with it. He's never rude to anyone, he never screws around, he doesn't cause any problems; and for that, Garret, I give you this: ![]() |

Nice insights, Boo Boo.
You reminded me of several members I failed to mention that had a significant impact on my perception. I will continue: SATCHMO He feels like almost a father type figure to me. Not in age, but wisdom. He's reserved, but when he speaks, you KNOW his intention. It's clear and decisive. He's unpredictable in his responses but they're rarely unfounded. I can't imagine asking him for advice and not taking it seriously. Thrice I feel connected to him via a military aspect, knowing that his perspective is intrinsically related to mine in that regard. We have different views, but I see the ultimate point in what he says as a result of the connection we share. That same connection relates me to: Bane Of Your Existence I's the same as above, but with a different jingle. I often see both of these guys in the same sphere of linked understanding regarding aspects militarily influenced. Both of them I pay attention to, both of them I respect. Comus I don't know much about him as I've never broached anything personal with him on a one-on-one basis. I know that he has an internet radio show, and I know that he is into progressive rock. I know that he also make me laugh in the shoutbox, but that's as deep as my perception penetrates. I often find myself wanting to talk to him, but I dont know how many connections we could make that would make it beneficial. Lucifer Sam I've made some comments that he's agreed with, some not. I've never really tackled his personality beyond a superficial validation. I can't really tax my mind to find an outstanding quality of his, but I suspect it's merely due to the fact that I haven't delved deep enough into it. He seems very intelligent, but perhaps he and I are on different pages. Crash Override Here's another military guy I can identify with. I never really got a feel for him but for some strange reason he reminds me of an NCO I really got along with when I was in the service. I looked up to this particular NCO because of his wit and humor, and we never clashed in a major way. I assume that somewhere down the line when me and Crash exchange meaningful text, it will have been based on issues we both understand. I look forward to that exchange. Molecules I've had several run-ins with this guy in the past. He seemed to have been more of a force than he is now. I don't hear from him much lately. I appreciated his insights regarding DubStep, but I find myself forgetting them lately as he's not been there fortifying his position. I'm also slightly uncomfortable with how easy it is to forget his opinions. I'm not sure if that's a reflection on myself, or him. I vote for the former. Sweet Nothing No matter how intense his inability to understand the feminine quality of his user-name, I find his response to that perception to be intensely hilarious. When he posts, that's all I think about. That's all I got for now.

Bulldog Very nice fellow with a definite left of centre musical tastes which helps broaden the scope on here and he never creates any problems on here at all. Nonsubmissivewife You know that one poster who is quiet, unassuming, posts well, to the point and is worth reading? That's NSW for you. She also has a wicked sense of humour and is cute too ![]() Comus An enigma. Loves his obscure prog and is knowledgeable about it yet he loves Green Day. Makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever and so I don't know if his posts are sometimes confrontational for the sake of it. He is elitist for sure but having known him a little while I can forgive him for that. Genuinely does introduce good music to the forum but I wish he would contribute elsewhere and become involved a little more in threads that may only have a small interest for him as he is intelligent enough to join in. Lucifer Sam I remember when he joined and I definitely think that MB has taught him a lot more musically than he maybe wants to admit. He does like to snipe now and again to try and get a rise out of people I think but it's never really malicious at all. Knows a lot more than he lets on I think. Satchmo I really do like this guy and wish he would post more. We are the same age and I think we come from exactly the same musical backgrounds so I can relate to him easily. Great one liners too but not prolific enough! Molecules One of the most entertaining posters on here and his vivid descriptions of music make me want to listen to evey bit of music he proffers up and eclectic too. works damn hard at promoting music that is not that popular on here and kudos to him. He does have a nasty habit of going AWOL for weeks at a time though ![]() More to come.

Probably the second funniest guy on musicbanter. Also one of the nicest to boot. This guy is hard working, attentive, generous and brilliant all in one package. He's always got something interesting to say, and it's always great to discuss stuff with him. That and he's norwegians, and norwegians automatically rule. ethan aka sleepy jack THE funniest guy on musicbanter. Also probably the most intelligent. This guy is going to be famous one day, and I'll be able to say "I used to make fun of this guy so harshly". Always a good sport and criminally misunderstood here. This guy has a pretty good perspective on life, love and the world in general. We also share the same sort of humour, you know, the type that makes everyone hate us. He's also soft as a teddy bear. Anteater This guy knows more about prog than anyone else on musicbanter. And he's an awesome guy to boot. Always willing to try something new and probably the least elitist of our proghead clique. A really nice guy to talk to as well. Jackhammer We've had our ups and downs, but generally it's cool now. Always has a bit of a patronising tone that can get on my nerves but he's a good guy underneath it all. Seltzer I cry manly tears every day at the fact he doesn't post as much as he should do. His King Crimson thread was the main reason I didn't troll this forum like I intended too when I joined. Also likes Windir which makes me happy. Boo Boo This guy is hilarious. Knows about as much about prog as he does about life. But the forum wouldn't really be fun at all without him. For some reason thinks I'm a musician because I have an avatar with me holding a guitar. I think it looks cool, that's the only reason I have it. Urban Hatemonger Brutally honest and I love it. Also needs to finish that fucking Fall thread. If you don't do it soon I'll make my own and beat you to the punch. CAPTAIN CAVEMAN We have nothing in common but this guy is very funny, in a cutting intelligent way. Wayfarer Often very fun to talk too, but needs to poast moar. Dac Randomly hates me now because he can't take a joke. I guess I am incredibly obnoxious but I thought we have a lot of similar tastes. Comus A massive douche. I swear everytime I read this guys posts I just rage quietly to myself inside. He's so abrasive and annoying, always acting so uppety. Also likes **** bands like Green Day and Feeder that make me doubt everything he says. A clear troll, no idea how anyone could like him or take him seriously.

Ok, I've copy/pasted some usernames that I've gotten to know somewhat. I'll try to be as nice as possible but it would be really boring if this just became another ass-kissing contest. I've made some more personal connections with some of these people but I'll try to keep my observations to their forum activities.
Right-Track Probably the funniest guy here. I'm not sure why he sticks around though, there was never much here for him, as far as music goes. I still haven't figured out what he listens to outside of Northern Soul. Ok, there's Talking heads and Joy Division but nothing much from the last 20 years which is where 90% of my favorite music comes from. As rare as his posts have become, they're always a pleasure to read. (: Urban Hatemonger Ok, I've never much liked him, mainly because it seemed to me from the start that 90% of his musical choices are conscious efforts to be as bizarre as possible. That's probably not true but I've never been able to shake that feeling. On the plus side, he does seem to have an encyclopedic knowledge of music, on the downside, not particularly good in debates of any kind which is unfortunate seeing as he enjoys starting arguments. If you challenge him to articulate his opinions he usually runs away or gets pissed off after a few posts...which of course amuses me. Jack Hammer Extremely enthusiastic about music, almost as enthusiastic about films, don't particularly share his tastes in either which is why I get the urge to argue with him on a regular basis. Also...way too insecure which he tries to compensate with some bizarre wordiness. I'd say he needs to learn how to relax...absolutely indispensable for musicbanter though, I'd say 70% of the new and exciting stuff which I'm too lazy to participate in but other members seem to enjoy is down to his seemingly unending enthusiasm. So, keep it up...(: Sleepy Jack My homey, very intelligent, super funny, don't share his taste in music at all. In the last year or so has changed somewhat dramatically. I suppose he's outgrown this place but old habits die hard. He'll probably leave eventually, I don't see much keeping him here...:\ TheBig3KilledMyRainDog Oh what to say...I don't think any other member gets on my nerves this much. I'd say he's almost as insecure as Jackhammer and tries really hard to impress people but is pathologically inarticulate. I think he's smart, just not as smart as he thinks he is or hopes to be. Unfortunately, knowing your intellectual capabilities and limitations is one of the things I most value in people and he just hasn't admitted his own. Edit: And he sulks like a 5 year old... Janszoon Nice guy. Chilled out. I appreciate that....in others... ![]() Toretorden Our music tastes and interests are very different but you can see he's very smart. The fact that he can come off as really smart while communicating in a different language speaks to his intelligence. But...even though he's my age he acts like he's in his 30s. Not a bad thing I suppose, especially for a mod, but I'm the exact opposite so I don't see much in common. Hopefully this place won't become too serious with him doing the policing. Dreadnaught I love smart and funny ladies, and I think she sometimes ventures into the indie forum which is an added bonus. Other than that, she reminds me of swim. Boo Boo Weird but ok. Smart and self-critical which I appreciate. I'm sure he'll realize one day that most anime he watches are really just exotic cartoons for silly 10 year old girls. Btw, have you checked out Mononoke yet?? Now that is fucking anime. Savannah Typical "girly girl". I'm sure she's aware of it, and I like her well enough, but I like women who are more empowered so to speak. 333 Like this girl for example, smart, funny with a dash of bitchiness. I'd definitely tap that....if I was into vagina... Lucifer Sam: Smart and into indie? Yes please. Plus, for some reason he reminds me of Gentelman Johnny...not a bad thing, I love that guy. Comus: Douche in every possible sense of the word. Could have something to do with his avatar, every time I see it I get the urge to punch him in the face. We don't share tastes in music so thankfully I don't need to read his posts that often. Although he does have his lol moments, I'll give him that. JayJamJah: The dude was fine, until that whole water boarding incident which made me wonder what the hell goes on in his head. No idea what his tastes in music are, apart from the Van Morrison obsession. Had a sneaky suspicion he wouldn't be able to maintain a consistent interest in this forum, and I was right, and I love being right. Not that I'm ever wrong... Rainard Jalen: One of the very few people with a similar taste in music. Doesn't spend enough time here for me to get to know him better but he does seem to go overboard with some of his arguments. Sweet_Nothing: Also reminds me of Ethan a few years back. And an unabashed Coldplay fan which is a major bonus. Veridical Fiction: One of the most pleasant new additions. Smart and articulate, and lgbt friendly, all very surprising considering his army background but that's just my prejudice talking. Cardboard Adolecent: Ever since he got into college he's become a stereotypical Linklater character, a tad too pretentious for my tastes, but you can always learn something from guys like him which is why I'm glad he's still around. He's never been too bothered with this forum though. Molecules: Chilled out and funny, gives out the vibe of upper middle-class Britishness, which gives me a major boner. Shame we don't share that much as far as music tastes go. Nonsubmissivewife Me likes. I get the feeling she'd be very easy to get along with, maybe because she hasn't gotten cross with me for teasing her. Always a good sign...(: No idea what she listens to. Bane Of Your Existence A slightly more abrasive/macho version of Veridical. Also no idea what he listens to. Ok, seriously, there are way too many members in this place and I've become too lazy to read all of your shit so I haven't been able to develop a better picture of anyone who joined post 2007. And not enough people consistently post in the indie section which is all I'm really interested in here, aside form the occasional lgbt related thread....or any other chance to flame on big3...AHAHA. Myes. ![]()

sleepy jack: I have never liked him. He's a huge elitist and I disagree with him on many many things. Still, sometimes I just want to give him a pat on the back for witty comments, or even just his bluntness. He's very intelligent, and that goes a long way.
Urban Hatemonger: I really don't know what to think of this guy. Sometimes I wonder what goes on inside his head. He's kind of impossible to read, so I really don't know if I like him or not. Either way, he's hilarious and Musicbanter wouldn't be complete without him. CAPTAIN CAVEMAN: As long as I live, I will never see a troll as great as The-Starving-Artless. boo boo: I really like boo boo and I hope he finds the bald chick of his dreams. ProggyMan: He is definitely mature for his age, but he's always come across as a little arrogant. He hardly posts in the music forums anymore, just the recreation forums. He's cool but again, I don't really know what to think of him. Jackhammer: One of the nicest members on Musicbanter, not to mention he is very open-minded. The heart and soul of this website. Piss Me Off: The complete opposite of what his name may suggest. Great guy, I like him a lot. FaSho: I liked him from the start, when his taste was very primitive (and come to think of it, so was mine). Now he's surpassed me. Comus: Sometimes I think he's too much of a purist when it comes to metal (I could be wrong), but nevertheless, he's intelligent and an excellent reviewer. adidasss: He's cool, very friendly. Needs to cut back on the poppy indie stuff though. ![]() sweet_nothing: Me and him have a funny history, but at the end of the day I like him and I'm glad he's here at Musicbanter. Crash Override: The least elitist person on this forum, and for that, he's amazing. He likes cool music too. Tore: I knew he was going to be awesome from the start. Do I need to say any more? Veridical Fiction: Amazing dude, all his posts are awesome.
