Can we move this racism discussion to another thread, or remove it entirely? I come here to see member's opinions on other members, not the read a several page-long argument of the semantics of racism and what it actually means.

Besides, arguing with someone on the internet is like arguing with a brick wall. It wastes time and energy, and is essentially pointless (unless that brick wall is REALLY wrong).

On that note...

Wuzzly. He's brand new, but I'm really liking his taste in music, and he's actually CONTRIBUTING to discussions! We need more noobs like him, I hope he sticks around.

Trollheart,

I am totally impressed with your great wisdom and knownledge. I mean sometimes you know how to command the situation. You also have great analysis on music. Your journal is so interesting and worth seeing.

I always wondered this: Did you ever wanted to be a Radiohost?

Thanks Franco! I did once, back in the eighties, host a radio show on community radio here --- probably had about three listeners, two who were awake! But it was fun. I wouldn't want to be a DJ these days though, as the emphasis seems much more on how funny/outrageous/controversial you can be than what you know about music. It kills me when they play six songs in a row, I liked the fourth, and they just waffle on and say nothing about the songs. I always made a point when I was on the radio of, even when I played four or so tracks one after another, backtracking to name them all, unless I had done so before I started. I hate what radio has become. :( These days people seem to listen for what they can win, or to phone in crazy suggestions, and music is a very very distant second.

Glad you're enjoying my journal, and if you have any suggestions please let me know.

It's time for the ultimate lurker to finally take a crack at this.

Wuzzly- Post for post, probably contributes more to the music threads than I do, which is awesome for someone who's been around for a week. He (?) seems a tad bit brash, but that's never stopped people from being an asset to the community before. Just like

Urban- Wobbles between bitter old bastard and comedic genius. Regardless, I always go straight to his posts when I see him the 'new posts' list, as it's always something either entertaining or scathingly truthful. He acts all crusty and sarcastic, but I think he really loves all (or at least most) of us.

Jackhammer- He's probably forgotten more now than I will know ten years from now. Not just about music (in which he's damn near omnipotent), but in a plethora of subjects where doesn't get enough credit. He's also tough, modest, amiable, and has a golden sense of humor.

Janszoon-
But really, out of everyone he is the hardest to write about even though he's one of my favorite members. His posts just have a way of cheering you up and making you smile. Maybe it's because they have an almost child-like innocence to them, even in the most adult contexts. He's very down to earth and humble in the internet's sea of pretention. He is also, in my opinion, the kindest member on the forum along with Canwll and tore.

Canwll Corfe- You seem to walk a line between misanthropy and selfless kindness. As a psych nerd, your personality is very intriguing- being so attracted to melancholious things, suicide as a reassuring thought...I'd probably bug the shit out of you if we were neighbors just trying to analyze you or something.

Tore- I really wish he would post more nowadays. If you want an unbiased response, this is your guy. If you want a resource of knowledge, musical, scientific, or otherwise, this is your guy. If you want a loveable personality and a heart of gold, tore is your man.

Howard- Despite previous attacks on your relevance to this forum, I think your oddities stir things up in a positive way. I look forward to your posts because they are pretty much guaranteed to break the mold in some way.

Hermoine/Paloma/Daynaetc- Blunt, sarcastic sense of humor. No BS, concise posting style. Brave as all getout and probably has bigger balls than me. I can't read your blog, though; I'm on a diet and every page is dripping in food porn.

Vanilla- You can be very insightful, compassionate, and kind. Your knowledge of electronic music admirable as well. But can you perhaps, maybe, possibly not make sexual innuendos in every post? Like, 80% would be a good cutoff.

Burning Down- Having somebody with a thorough knowledge of classical music in a pop-dominated forum is a blessing. People tend to characterize her as this robotic, PC, and nice-in-a-professional-way kind of person, but I just don't see that. I think a lot of her humor is lost on people because it's rather subtle, and she has a bit of an edge when it comes to dealing with stupidity (and I mean that in the nicest way possible).

Conan- Sr. Conando, I've seriously watched your IQ and average post length triple in the last four years, and you were an intelligent and productive member back then as well. His writing style is one of my favorites on this form, balancing a casual, common sense tone with insightful points and clarity. Stellar sense of humor as well. Not bad looking either.

May do more later.

Bob. If there's one member I can rely on to recommend something that I have never heard of that I am going to love it's Bob. :thumb:

Aww thank you! :)

Hehe yeah I forget sometimes that I'm not always in the sexual experience thread! :shycouch:

Ok see if I can do this. Won't be much.

Janz - You're cool, calm and collected. Know how to respond in an appropriate manner, and definitely one of the friendlier members here. I agree you seem very down to earth. Well acknowledged and have a diverse taste in music (I admire your tastes btw). I always look through your recommendations whoever you give them to. :)

Mojopinuk - Hi Mojopunk! ;) Gotta say the same about being one of the more friendlier members. You're level-headed, very approachable, and give a great ear to attention. Definitely an example member here.

Neapo - Knows how to debate, very open and has a sort of gentleman's sense of humour. Nice guy all around.

Trollheart - Your Mr. Burns persona is very entertaining. Great writer, especially when it comes to reviewing music.

mr. dave - I don't know how to express my thoughts exactly. You're just... Cool. Nice. Know your ****, especially when others don't, and you're not rude about it.

Fredde - I really like your sense of humour. You get me laughing a lot of times. A valuable member that seems to get over-looked here. You got a great place! ;)

Vanilla - Don't come across with you much here, but keep drinking please! You're just fun and silly, it's mind boggling. But really you just know how to have fun. I like you. :)

Hermione - I like your attitude to be honest. A woman to be feared. Keep sticking your pins in. ;)

Freebase Dali 10-20-2012 11:21 PM

Rjinn - Knows how to operate this thread correctly.

Edit:
And seems very nice as well.

Thank you for this. I am not as friendly and approachable as I used to be but thats mainly because I used to try too hard to be nice and wasn't being myself. Now I will stand behind my opinion, regardless of whether it is a popular one or not, not really give too much of a crap what people think and won't think twice about calling someone a **** if they are indeed being a ****. So it's nice to know that you see me this way, as being nice and approachable is still important to me.

As for you, you are certainly one of my favourite new members. You may be my favourite newbie of this year actually. In some ways you seem to be someone who is maybe still trying to find herself and work out who she is? You don't always seem the most confident person and if this is the case. maybe one of the things you will discover in the hopefully near fuiture is that confidence in yourself to be who you are.

Of course I could also be way off. What do I know? Regardless, you have presented yourself as a very friendly, very polite, very nice person and someone who, along with a great taste in music (any Electric Wizard fan is good by me) could be a real asset to this community and seems the kind of person I would really like to get know in person.

What in blue blazes --- I'm not reading THAT! What do you mean, contractually obliged? I'll have you know I have the highest-paid lawyers in the city! We'll see who eats whose shorts, my friend! What? THEY advised this? My own lawyers? Oh, damn and blast it, all right then!

Let's see... hmmm... not reading that.... nor that.... that's right out! Ah, yes, very well then: ahem. Rinn, jinn, rinj, rjin ---- oh damn and blast it, why don't people have proper names? Names like Charles. Or Montgomery. Good names. Real names. What? Oh yes. Well, let's just say the wooden looking fellow with the flat head and the cheroot in your pictogram. Yes, yes, that'll do! Excellent!

I like the cut of your jib, young fella. Or lass. Nobody bothered to write down that information for me. What? You're fired! Yes, now back to the response. Where was I? Oh yes. Anytime you want a job here, it's yours (I could do with another few organs I can harve---) WHAT? The microphone was ON?! What sort of idiot would not make sure --- I BEG your pardon? Yes, I know I'm the one holding the switch --- ah. Hmm. Yes, well you're fired too! In fact, you're ALL fired! Total shutdown of the plant! Go on! Be off with you! Get off my property before I release the hounds! What? I fired them too? Well, I'll hire them back freelance. At a much reduced wage of course. Now GET OUT!

Bah! I don't know why I bother! This speech is OVER!

Oh yes. One more thing. Fifteen minutes from now I shall unleash a horror upon the world the likes of which it has never seen! No-one shall be spared! NO-ONE! HA!

(Translation: thanks for your kind words, Rjinn...) :D
