As regards DSOTM, it is like any signature album. I feel that there is far more to Floyd than this album and I almost feel the need to negate it a little to restore some kind of equilibrium and a hope that they are not judged solely on this album. As regards this thread (and not including comps or live albums) here are my Pink Floyd albums in favourite order: Animals Piper At The Gates Of Dawn Obscured By Clouds Wish You Were Here Meddle More The Final Cut DSOTM A Saucerful Of Secrets The Division Bell Ummagumma Atom Heart Mother The Wall A Momentary Lapse Of Reason

excellent thread jackhammer, beautiful reviews. this has made me want to really go backtracking into their discography
so yeah, seeing as i only own Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Animals, and Wish You Were Here (for now), my opinion may be a bit skewed as to what their best song is/album may be. anywho, while i do agree that Money is a bit detached from the rest of the record in terms of depth, i don't find it generally being the lowest point on the cd(that goes to On the Run). i find it while not fitting in with the overall sound, it's still an enjoyable listen. as for what my favorite songs i have to say Us and Them, Dogs, Have a Cigar, Comfortably Numb, Young Lust, Pigs, Time, Wish You Were Here, The Show Must Go On and Pigs on the Wing pts 1 and 2(short and sweet, that's why i love those last ones) and with that what i also have, my opinion of these albums, are as follows The Wall-the best conceptually, a finely crafted story as well as a good start as i see it for someone who's only heard their biggest singles, as this album has a number of their biggest hits Animals-their progressive masterpiece, really showing the prog community that they've still got it and can hang with the big boys. plus Dogs makes me **** my pants Wish You Were Here-while there was some generally good/great stuff on here, this pales in comparison musically and imo lyrically to my other Floyd records and is pretty much my least favorite Dark Side of The Moon-to be honest, i'm having a difficult time really pinpointing what this album means to me, not only is it their most recognized and successful album financially, the way that the music speaks to is unlike much else that i've ever heard. the majestic song structures coupled with the lyrics and themes which seem to flow together and become one are so beautiful that beginning to describe it would mean tearing at my heart strings while shaking the very foundation of my soul. i'll just say that it's ****ing great .

^ Wish you were here is my favorite pro-Meddle album. You're missing quite an album here.

well guys, i just heard Meddle, here's what i think about it after the first listen (Note, this was the FIRST listen, i'll definately give it more plays soon)
1. One of These Days-struck me from the first second and sent me on quite a ride. really excited me for the rest of the cd. 2. A Pillow of Winds-a very beautiful and layered song, but frankly i expected a little different from what follows the first song. still, i really liked it. 3. Fearless-that musical hook(you know what i'm talking about) really had me from the beginning. to be honest i don't remember much else fro the song, hehe. 4. San Tropez-this song surprised me, actually. really had stuff that harked to the sixties, a glimpse of how Floyd was back in the beginning, perhaps? i don't know, but i still liked it. 5. Seamus-this one went over my head. sorry. i'll make sure to listen carefully to it next time. 6. Echoes-WOW. just wow. exceeded all my expectations, one of the best Floyd songs/songs in general i've ever heard. can't begin to describe all of the stuff i loved about it, so i'll leave it at that (funny enough, i was playing Star Fox 64 on the comp when this song was on, and i was on the asteroid mission in space when the part with the whale sounds was on. twas EPIIIIIIIC) overall, i really enjoyed this album, and while i didn't catch everything first shot, i'll still keep listening to it seeing as there's alot more on it to explore. as of now, though, this is definately one of my favorite Floyd albums that i've heard.
