Many harrowing scenes, but the one in which the Jared Leto and Jennifer Connelly characters are on the phone and he says, "I'm really sorry, Marion" - that was so sad and sticks with me to this day. |
I wonder how it compares with Trainspotting, which is a "gritty" movie about drug addiction (plus crime plot) set in Scotland ?
|
Trainspotting is far better. Requiem for a Dream takes several cheap turns to amplify the melodrama which really dampens it all for me. It winds up more like an after school special in a lot of ways. The mother's character arc is brilliant though.

Trainspotting is definitely funnier.
But Trainspotting doesn't have Jennifer Connelly. |
It's a 90s movie though so naturally there's a scene where a trans woman gets assaulted.
I know Begbie is supposed to be a huge piece of sh*t but still. |

Is it ok or is it pervy to make love to shirts? https://68.media.tumblr.com/c52c3481...ult6o1_400.gif |
