I also disagree that kanye is wholly unlikable with no redeeming qualities.

Well you're clearly a **** judge of character.

Even battys favorite podcasters from Knowledge fightwere talking about the life of Pablo like fan boys. To me he's always been over hyped in rap.

But yeah I think people want to have it both ways on pathologizing him on the one hand and yet on the other it's like he's still evil for being antisemitic even if we talk about him otherwise like he's not capable of being rational. There can be no normal empathy because the culture war always takes first priority.

But whatever else you want to say about Ye, he's actually genuine in everything he's saying to the point where he's willing to burn is billion dollar career to the ground. I have to admire that.

I don't know, maybe overhyped as a rapper. But as a producer he's always been great, if not a little derivative of RZA's style in the late '90s, but his style really grew into his own thing as he went on - but he's always had an incredible ear for music and samples. He crafted some of the best beats around in his prime.

Kanye as a personality has almost always courted controversy though. He's long come off as selfish, narcissistic, ego-driven, etc. Fans of rap generally wouldn't care much though because he'd be dropping banger after banger. What we're seeing today is that personality amped up to 10 and run through a weird alt-right fever dream. And after the tepid release of Donda and the complete disaster that was Donda 2, he hasn't released a great record since at least 2016.

And I saw the video of him getting bullied by Haz at twitchcon

Yeah i get that. I definitely don't watch everything he does, but when there is a good drama, I always hit up his channel. I just wish he'd stop being a lazy ass and put timestamps in his ****ing videos. And stop arguing with his chat like Hasan.

Well yeah he's got charisma on the mic and puts out good music, but I mean more on an interpersonal level like if you were just talking to him about literally anything he sounds like he'd be miserable to deal with. As an example I mean it can be annoying when somebody talks over you but there's okay ways to cut in when somebody's talking, but the way he just will not let himself be interrupted at all just makes it seem like he does not value anyone's input. I'm not even talking about his state of mind or the content of what he's saying.

One thing that sorta amused me on Twitter was seeing conservatives quote tweeting journalists who condemned Kanye and accusing them of hypocrisy cause they wrote a positive thing about him way back. "You praised a famous artist before he came out as a Nazi" is, in their minds, a gotcha because they've always known better than to have a positive opinion about a black rapper.
