But what if they put inoffensive missiles in Ukraine? Ones that are very polite, mind their own business and don't get drunk and rampage through downtown on a Saturday night?

I think this is spot on.

I'm really worried about the ripple effect this is going to have global politic-wise. China better chill the f*ck out watching this.

China seems to be, for now, staying out of it, kind of neutral, but doesn't look to be supporting Russia:

China

The world's second-biggest economy, which shares a long border with Russia, said it was monitoring the crisis and urged restraint.

"China is closely watching the latest situation, and we call on all parties to maintain restraint and prevent the situation from getting out of control," foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular press briefing.

China has a lot to lose economically if it seems they're siding with Putin. They need western money to keep their economy going smoothly.

This is a hypothetical and happens awfully fast, but this something that just might be possible now.

From 2018 so the leaders have been changed a bit

Actually, China is refusing to call what Putin is doing an "invasion" and is
actually deflecting blame to the U.S., so, no, they are not being "neutral."
