This is so sad. "We are being sent to war like cannon fodder....I will say that Ukrainian military are nice guys, they did not hit me and gave me food. For what? Everywhere here live peaceful people and no one wants war."
I well-up every time President Zelenskyy appears on tv. A truly great leader. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6v3nnxOrh4 |

2. Russia's relative weakness is why they have less control over there sphere of influence and have a tendency to roll in with tanks. Hence the former Soviet republics wanting NATO protection.

Whether you are owed a buffer state is not the point. Their national security depends on said buffer state. Thus they have strong interests to intervene in the process of Ukraine gravitating towards nato. Much more so than any other former Soviet territory. So the idea that Ukraine is just step 1 to Russian conquest in Europe is pretty dubious.
I understand why those nations want nato protection. I also understand why that's a direct threat against Russia when a country that has a large wide open border is going to potentially have nato troops and arms on their border which they will then have to expand the military to protect. The United States would never abide this sort of thing in our own back yard - the Monroe doctrine dictates we have supremacy over essentially the entire Western hemisphere. But don't think for a minute we're going to let ourselves be ruled by Mr. Putin. If he launches a nuclear missile (and he will go first), it's lights out for everybody including Russia (and yes, the US as well). |

Don't be Putin ideas into people's heads. We're better Biden our time. Kyiv it a chance; we don't want it to be fiNATO before talks or mediation.
I apologise: I don't know what came over me! Where am I? What day is this? How long have I - no! Really?
