It's not a gotcha question you can fill whatever specific details that would make you support it or not. There are countless iterations of possible scenarios. I'm interested in whether anyone would consider the stakes high enough to support any kind of coup at all .. I'm sure there are plenty of potential coups you wouldnt support but are there any you would?

**** the US government. **** the American culture. If a proper socialist coup murdered Congress and bombed the White House I'd be hella excited. Scared in case they turned out to be something crazy but you take the opportunity given to you.
I mean straight up I don't support Stalin or what became of the Russian Revolution but if it's the October Revolution and I'm not totally onboard with Lenin but that's the option I have then **** it I'm onboard cause that's my option.

I mean mother****ing god the international ruling class leaching off the third world is pure murder. It needs to stop. It has to stop. However it stops is fine. I don't support the North Korean government but if North Korea is a step in the way of ending the IMF domination of third world starvation then I guess I'd have to side with them.

Thanks for that polite correction, rubber soul.
![]() My point with jwb remains, though: the incipient death of US democracy as an election issue is new - at least at a national level. Perhaps it's been there all the while as a grass-roots issue, and if so the Dems have even less than the no excuse they already have for letting things slide so far at the local level. They are net negative in excuses.

If you didn't hear the same thing the other two times Trump ran then i don't know what to tell you. I certainly did. Especially in 2020.
Point it's who is willing to bet money that 2024 is the last presidential election? Like just hypothetically would you put money on that prospect, assuming it were possible to do so? Cause i would certainly bet the opposite. We'll be hearing about how we need to save democracy once again in 2028. |

They have plenty of motives for solving problems:- i) they understand the causes of the upcoming environmental catastrophe ii) they have made public commitments to tackle the pandemic and other social probs iii) if they don't defend the democratic process they will never be in power again. Some of their approaches are cosmetic rather than structural - superficial adjustments rather than radical change, but that's because of the comment I made to jwb: insufficient mandate from the American voter. It's like some Americans are clamouring for the Dems to put out a fire, but have only given them one bucket of water to do it with.
