There's something that day-by-day media coverage doesn't explain about covid, so perhaps someone here can provide an answer:-

"Omicron is now the dominant variant" is something we hear all the time, but what does that mean, exactly? Is the Delta variant being somehow squeezed out of the picture, never to return, or is it just that cases are, during this wave, 40% delta, 60% omicron, and that when the omicron wave is over, it'll be back to business as usual with delta and all previous variants buzzing around as before?

"Some variants may disappear, some variants may continue to spread." Thanks for that clarification, CDC. ;)

Yeah, I'm starting to get a little f*cking annoyed by whoever is in charge of PR with the CDC because they've really been sh*tting the bed lately with stupid bullsh*t "announcements" that almost seem designed to cause stir.
