You don't think that Afghani support would shift from the Taliban to a less oppressive uprising if their lives are apparently going to be so awful?

Let's not fool each other we're both here to waste each other's times. We both got kicked out of the debate club long ago.

i don't know, but last time around it seemed like the Taliban didn't particularly need popular support just fear and submission.

While it may only get even worse for ordinary Afghans in the coming years,

That's kinda my point in all these posts

I honestly don't know what they were expecting tbh, though I'm sure they must have had an idea of the situation. I mean that first press conference where he's saying he doesn't think Afghanistan would fall he did not sound confident or like he wanted to be there making any kind of statement he could could be held to account for. I doubt in a million years he ever would have admitted that we had completely failed and it was about to be a **** show.

One would imagine that if they thought it would have been as much of an optical disaster as it has become, that they would've delayed the withdrawal further to a time in which they were more prepared. That all of course assumes that the people on the ground were feeding accurate information back to the administration and being generally competent. Part of me thinks that people in the administration really wanted this to happen in time for the "20th anniversary of 9/11". If it did not become as much of a cluster**** as it has, and no American died, it could've been a rather easy optical success for Biden. Right now, he's looking more like Gerald Ford (Vietnam/Saigon) than Eisenhower (Korean War).

No, not at all, respect to the Polish people. Didn't even know his son was in politics.

I simply cited him as one of the figures most identified with the US arming and propping up Muslim fundamentalists in Afghanistan in order to drag the Soviets into a Vietnam all of their own right on their border. That's what that quote illustrates.

My point was that violent invaders and foreign usurpers aren't the best conduit for Western European Liberal Enlightenment Values, which is the fantasy version of America's role in Afghanistan. If they were, Taliban wouldn't be the only game in town after 20 years.

So after 20 years of incompetence the competence was supposed to start now? Focusing on the withdrawal honestly feels like copium so people don't have to deal with the sheer weight of a 20 year abject failure that indicts the entire country. No, it's just this one guy's failure in this particular moment so let's focus on that and not think about how much America sucks.

Anyone see the fox news clip with my fam lol

the weirdest thing about this whole experience is that i have absolutely nothing to do with any of it. no one knows i exist.
they would rather i not be there at the end of the day.
it's the resurgence of the Single Dad of Three narrative.
except now his math is right.

I saw the clip along with several others from some of the other families.
I've also seen several articles in the Daily Mail about your brother and various family members.
I noticed you seem to be staying out of it.
