Saying Florida has an open carry ban is a bit misleading because you’re allowed to carry it in your holster. Florida also has some of the most liberal laws in the country concerning when deadly force is acceptable.
Maybe if the gun is holstered it's considered concealed carry under Florida law?

I agree with you re hunting; it's an excuse or justification for owning weapons, though what exactly you're going to hunt with an assault rifle I don't know. Maybe them deer is banding together and getting real scary?
You hunt soldiers and cops.

Yeah.
I think both open carry and concealed carry should be fine but that’s it.
I think open carry is safer. If someone knows in advance they’re less likely to start **** that gets people shot.

Oh right. I thought you were accusing me, or the Irish in general, of hunting soldiers and cops.

Nah the Irish already showed themselves to be pretty inept at that.

I blame the sixteen pints of Guinness consumed before every hunt.
Hi tore! :wavey: Nice of you to stop by. Hope you're well, somewhere in Svalbard away from the pandemic, studying ants or whatever it is you do...;)
Btw, Norway is an odd exception regarding guns and violence I'd say, hence Breivik and all that mess. Apparently he bought semi-automatic weapons legally...:/
I wouldn't know the first thing about buying a gun in Croatia. Although plenty of people get killed by guns there every year. I always figure it's just a remnant of the war. :/

Thanks guys :D
It's such a long time since I was a regular here, I've since relocated and have advanced well into a wholly different career path. I now have a middle manager position in the municipality where we live which is far south of Svalbard. I also have a house (with a recording studio) and two kids now and life is generally good :) Covid sucks, but with my introvert leanings, I personally am doing just fine.
How are you guys doing?
I don't know much about Breivik, but I guess he was a psychopath living in a fantasy/conspiracy world.. absolutely nuts. I think he used a semi-automatic commonly used for hunting and it's been discussed politically whether semi-automatic weapons for the use of hunting should be banned.
I wouldn't mind. When do you need semi-automatics for hunting? I may be an idiot when it comes to hunting, but to my mind an old fashioned shotgun covers ptarmigan/fowl and variations on the bolt action rifle covers the rest. What else do you need?
I know there's been a couple of TV series covering the Breivik events, but I haven't quite found the motivation to watch them yet even if I feel I should.
