Based on the house vote, only 10 Republicans voted in favor of it. The media frames this as a milestone of bipartisanship, lol.

You have a problem with your "determiner." 10 Republican Representatives voted for impeachment out of 211 R HR. That is less than 5%. And that sorta reflects how R's voted the last election. There is a WashPo article stating 8% of Rep voted for Biden. How reliable the numbers are in the article idk. So lets say 8% of Reps don't like Trump. 8% isn't "most" in any stretch of the imagination. 70% of Republicans who voted for Trump do not see what transpired in the election as fair. Add an impeachment to an election held in question and you will not get "a sigh of relief."

You could say "most" Never Trumpers and RVAT "would breathe a sigh of relief." No problem. I just think political take on America politics is funny. You know cause you live in Ireland. I don't know if you understand this but Donald Trump is more popular in rural America than Saint Patrick is in Ireland. And that's not a hyperbole.

It seems like a higher percentage of Republican senators would like to see him banned from a 2024 bid from a practical standpoint but I don’t know wtf they’ll do.

How they voted doesn't necessarily reflect their actual desires. Part of it is also for show. Republicans in hard red districts don't want to be seen as siding with the Dems where as purple district Republicans want to distance themselves from Trump.

Yeah I get that.

It’s weird to me how scared these guys are to take a hit considering they’re set for life no matter what. But I guess that kind of thinking is why they’re them and I’m me.

Yeah but last time none voted, so that's a big jump. Plus many - including those who did vote for it - had threats made (apparently) against them and their families, so were scared to even if they wanted to.

The important thing is to stop him running ever again. I say chop off his legs.

This is it exactly. A larger number of them WANTED to vote, but were afraid to. The likes of McConnell, who wants the ****er out and gone, McCarthy, who damned him and then voted no; these people are toeing the party/Trump line because they're afraid to go against the tide of opinion, but as CNN said, if this had been a secret ballot you would most likely have seen a lot more vote yes than did.

yeah but that cuts both ways because they were also scared to vote against him the last time. This time he has little to no power and still they're scared enough to largely stick together so call me crazy but I'm not so sure this is going to mean much in terms of shifting the direction of the Republican party. They can secretly believe whatever they want, if they won't act on it then that's sorta irrelevant to me.

cant trump just make up his own party or run in the independent party

a 3 person race in 2024 but the only thing that would do is take votes away from the republicans

He will be permabanned from The White House if he’s convicted by the senate.
