That's really just it. You don't understand why poor people want to not be poor. That is really all you mean by the American dream. People want money. Poor people especially. You don't understand why people would come from a 3rd world banana republic and be happy to live here cause you don't know that struggle. That's all it really is fundamentally. People's politics aren't always completely informed or bound to confirm your meta narrative. Get over it.
