British gambler bets $5 million on Trump in biggest-ever political wager

Quote:

“Donald Trump will likely wake up with a spring in his step as more and more people think he could stay for another term,” the gambling comparison site OddsChecker said Tuesday.

In the last four hours, 71% of money wagered on the 2020 US election was on Trump, the site said — which the site’s head of marketing, Sam Eaton, called a “remarkable” swing.

“The 2020 election is following a very similar betting pattern to the one we witnessed back in 2016. The closer we got to election day, the more money came for Donald Trump,” Eaton said.

“A lot of part-time gamblers will opt to wager on the election today, and naturally given the bigger returns on Trump, they will likely side with the current President.”

One bookmakers, Paddy Power, told The Sun that 93% of wagers had been on Trump over the previous 24 hours.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said that “even at the eleventh-hour, punters are continuing to back Trump at the odds on offer.”

Well done, OH !
You also enjoyed a "European style" voting experience: no waiting. It's strange that US voters so often have to devote hours to queuing in order to vote.

I agree. I understand that people vote for Trump because they hope for faster change that way, but I don't think the Democrats will take the hint, and Trump is also very much the establishment. But more importantly, he's just been too inhumane

That's a small price to pay for the bragging rights you have won: you can now take the moral high ground when the talk turns to Trump's anti-science, anti-truth, anti-democratic and anti-environment policies come up for discussion.

I can’t take the high ground in twenty years and young kids ask me why didn’t you stop this environmental holocaust. I’ll be like Trump was worse and they’ll be like what’s worse than extinction. I can’t take the high ground when all those Obama Bush middle eastern war mongers start up with all their ****ing murder again. I can’t take the high ground when I’m asked why I made capitalism palatable again when I knew it was a philosophy and not a man killing the planet. I voted for evil. It’s nothing to be proud of. Blood will be on my hands.
