"A scalded cat will run from cold water."

I think some Cubans who escaped from Castro's regime behave like scalded cats. They hear the word "socialist" attached to the Dems and think that Biden, if elected, will innitiate a regime like Castro's.
In fact, with their policies of voter suppression, and manipulation of the DOJ, it's the GOP that are trying to lead the US away from a full-on democracy. The Dems are fighting at a local level to allow everyone to vote, the very reverse of totalitarianism.

This guy sounds sincere, but I suspect that he is a scalded cat too; he appears to be suggesting that Biden will lead the US down a totalitarian path, which is surely an unrealistic prediction. I listened to his speech until about 1:40, when he says that "Trump is a family man... our Commander in Chief, who puts America first..." Both of those statements are false: Trump is a serial adulterer who puts himself first.

Is this a commonly held opinion in Germany? All my reading, and several visits to the divided Germany suggest the opposite: The political division, and in particular the Berlin Wall, were hated by both sides from the outset.

What about dividing the USA into north and south? I think this would solve many problems.
They tried that in the 1860s, but after 4 years of slaughter and 360,000 dead, they decided against it I believe.

I had a Cuban friend, but he was just flat-out weird, so not very useful to use as an example of a demographic group. Cubans, it seems, are individuals; who would have guessed that?

They’ve been a solid republican voting block forever. I’ve known decent Cubans too but as a demographic they’re awful.

What kind of regime do you think that was?

The latest national telephone and online survey finds Trump edging Democrat Joe Biden 48% to 47% among Likely U.S. Voters. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, while two percent (2%) remain undecided.
Trump's going to win. Book it.

Well, I don't know for sure, but as you ask what I think, I'd say that it was a well-intentioned socialist/communist regime which ended up becoming unpopular, then repressive.

People who are not from south Florida have some misconceptions about Cubans. They're not all rich or middle class... There's a sizable portion that are poor. The richer ones are usually Republicans anyways. They're basically the White upper class of Miami since not that many actual white people live there.
Well, the Cubans are considered the whiter of the Spanish-speaking islands in the Caribbean. I think Aida Rodriguez has a joke that goes something like:

"The Dominicans think they're a little bit better because they speak better Spanish, and the Cubans think they're better because they're whiter, and the Puerto Ricans think they're a bit better because they're citizens."
