Texas will probably eventually turn blue but I'm skeptical it will happen this time. When it does it won't be because celebrities from Cali move there though it will be a combination of demographic change via the Mexican border and efforts to explicitly increase voter turnout among Texas's existing Hispanic population. I think they would likely already be a purple or even blue state if they just managed to mobilize enough people already living there.
But yeah... I think Hillary is the last person you should appeal to here. She was a uniquely hated candidate nationwide and lost in Texas by 9 points against a guy that literally campaigned on alienating Mexicans. IMO the fact Texas is even in play this election is cause Trump is also uniquely hated and the situation the country is in is so bad. I mean Georgia is polling similarly to Texas at this point, for anyone who really thinks it's down to some change in demographics in the last 4 years. Last edited by jwb; 09-18-2020 at 06:23 PM. |
