Four people died as supporters of President Donald Trump violently occupied the U.S. Capitol.

Washington, D.C., Police Chief Robert Contee said the dead on Wednesday included a woman who was shot by the U.S. Capitol Police, as well as three others who died in “medical emergencies.”

Congress confirmed Democrat Joe Biden as the presidential election winner early Thursday after a violent mob loyal to President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol in a stunning attempt to overturn America’s presidential election, undercut the nation’s democracy and keep Trump in the White House.

President Donald Trump for the first time acknowledged his defeat in the Nov. 3 election and announced there would be an “orderly transition on January 20th” after Congress concluded the electoral vote count early Thursday certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

Trump’s acknowledgement came after a day of chaos and destruction on Capitol Hill as a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol building and unleashed unprecedented scenes of mayhem as it tried to halt the peaceful transition of power. Members of Congress were forced into hiding, offices were ransacked, and the formal congressional tally halted for more than six hours.

“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” Trump said in a statement posted to Twitter by his social media director. His own account had been locked by the company for posting messages that appeared to justify the assault on the seat of the nation’s democracy.

When he and his supporters declared the election was stolen with self contradicting claims out of desperation, that was a W for me.

When all the judges he put into power started turning their backs on him over his ridiculous claims, that was a W for me.

When Rudi IGotCaughtBeingACreepyPedo Giuliani was the only one by his side during that speech at the Four Seasons Landscaping company that was a W for me.

When Trump was told that he can't come golf on his resorts in Scotland during the inauguration that was a W for me.

When Trump had his supporters storm the capital to stop the election but being too stupid to know what to do once they got there other than pose for photos thus doing nothing but stalling Biden being declared president making Trump a 1 term president that was a W for me.

Despite yesterday's alarming scenes, it is at the same time a day that signals hope, imo: it completed the Dem triumvirate: the Republicans have lost the Senate majority, they've already lost the House and it's been confirmed, they've lost the Presidency. Some narrow margins, but enough Americans have at last rejected the GOP, whose members are by turns corrupt, criminal and cowardly.
