I sincerely hope that you're speaking hypothetically and not referring to me, the person who started this thread.
I have made it abundantly clear that I was arguing for equal rights/responsibilities for both mothers and fathers, and in no way whatsoever conveyed that I did not want my son.

A good step-parent is a great thing. It's a hard role to fill and doing it correctly isn't always easy.

When you are in a mature relationship with another individual, you accept them for who they are, and everything that comes along with it, including any children from previous relationships. To equate this kind of loving acceptance with being a child molester who is trying to get access to a child in order to abuse that child, is simply ignorant. I'm sure this has happened in the past, sadly, but it is most definitely not the norm.
