Whether or not babies are worth doing depends on how you feel about lengthy jail sentences.

I don't know. I'm just trying to understand this since my dear friend is going through depression right now. Not even sure if "going through" is the right terminology.

My instincts are just screaming at me: "yeah, we've all got problems, but that doesn't keep everyone in bed. It's like that scene in Talladega Nights..."

Of course I would never say this to my friend, but I can't how I feel. I guess that's the difference. I choose not to say what I feel. I exercise my willpower of my natural desires. Why can't people with depression exercise their willpower over their desire to stay in bed?

you don't really get to make that choice, it's not something you can ignore. can't imagine the intensity of post-partum depression though, that's an entirely different ballgame.

for me, on my worst days i still make sure my dog is taken care of. he knows when i'm in a bad way though and will lay in bed with me all day if i ask him to. but my struggle with depression and inability to cope with the world for days at a time is certainly a factor in my decision not to breed.

give a better example.

Don’t have a baby. For the sake of argument I’m going to pretend that answers your stupid ass question, breeder.

Dude. Your angle has been bull**** since your first disingenuous post. I’ll never offer an olive branch to have a sincere conversation with you because you’re a ****ing creepy ass disgusting fraud. Seriously, you’re repulsive.

Depression is an illness, not just sadness or something that someone believes is a logical reaction to their life events, so "we all have problems" doesn't even address the situation at hand. So you've never experienced textbook can't get out of bed depression and that's either because you don't have it, it manifests itself in other ways, or you've developed successful coping mechanisms to distract yourself from your depression (not a dig btw, just laying out the possibilities). Why are other people different? You have different brain chemistry. Our genes predispose us to certain types of behaviours (with epigentetic changes throughout our lives of course) just like the plague killed off people without a certain gene while others survived. The people who died of the plague didn't do so out of a lack of morals, or because of choice or privilege, they died because the inability to survive the plague is coded into their blood.
