Think hard about it. My anxiety was making it hard to go to work or walk my dog. I would worry for hours without mercy about having to walk my dog. And even with it like that being that imprisoned by my anxiety I still kind of wish I had never turned to benzos.

I’m not giving advice but I do believe you have to pay a very greedy piper with those. They make you so tired and sleepy too. Once you start getting hooked you’re either spinning with anxiety or nodding off. If there’s another path for you I encourage you to consider it. Benzos are not a free pass

Never had it prescribed which makes my experience a totally different scenario, but kicking benzos (and opioids) were a few of the worst months of my life. I think I'm over the hump as this was years ago, but that **** flares up so randomly that I don't ever want to get comfortable enough to go down that road again. You should probably trust your doctor, but definitely definitely ask if there's anything else you can try first.

How bad was the withdrawal and how long did it last?

And how much were you taking?

The first month was painful enough to wish for death but my motor skills were ****ed up to the point that I couldn't pull off suicide if I tried. The two months after that were a disorienting panicked fog that made me long to think or relax again.

I honestly don't remember the exact amount but I'm pretty sure it fluxuated a lot. Handfuls of xanies throughout the day and at least a couple of anything-codone a day (I'd do more but I didn't have those in as high of a quantity as the benzos). Had multiple overdoses over the course of about a year and a half, I'm surprised that I survived that stage of my life.

Unfortunately they are notoriously addictive. There are plenty of people on benzos that don't develop habits but it's a slippery slope. They might end up working great for you and it'll never be an issue. Who knows really.

When you get a script you have to follow the rules of the prescription religiously

If you get 2mg a day don’t EVER take 3

you’ll still get addicted but if you allow yourself to develop a huge tolerance like that - whew - that does a number on your cognitive well-being

****ing hell mate. I knew it was bad but its hard to understand how bad when you haven't done it.

Alcohol withdrawals were bad for me but benzos sound much worse. I was pretty much physically OK after about two weeks.
