I appreciate that my friend.

My daughter only got to meet her real self once, and that was a week before it happened and 2 months after she was born. One of the hardest things still is knowing what a great Grandmother she would have made if only she'd have put down the sauce and pills. Once in a great while, in her altered post coma state, I could see in her eyes as she looked at her granddaughter that she knew that she was a part of her.

I've grown past it, but there's still a part of me that hurts. Always will.

That's really tough on you both, Fluff and Plankton. That kind of long term care/toleration must be terrible to maintain day after day.

Grandparents enjoy their grandchildren in the movies, but it doesn't always work out that way: my son, for example, never met his Brit grandparents.

I don't tell much of the things I've gone through mostly because that's all in the past and I've come through the other side a little wiser and a lot is really personal, but if I think there's a chance someone will get something out of it, I'll post up a bit of the story. Enough to get the picture anyway. Sometimes I ramble though.

Just trying to help others.

I do appreciate that though, Marie. Thank you.

Back to your regularly scheduled program...

Holy god that's awful. I can't imagine doing that for 13 years.

That's rough plank, I'm sorry. I couldnt do it.

My bf's mom got hooked on pills after surgery then went all-in on booze and ended up homeless, ultimately dying of "wet brain." It's a horrible thing for a child to witness of their parent.

Step dad sounds like a G though. I know if it were me and I brought her home and set her up in her bedroom or whatever and just looked at what my life was going to be for the next basically forever it would probably feel like the world just ended and I was the only one who knew it. What it takes for someone to probably feel the same damn way and then nut up and get the **** on with it for 13 years deserves a very hearty handshake.

Broken as **** piece of **** system, imagine if I was still suicidal and this kind of hurdle came up smh. I am stable I promise but my mind does instantly go to like "kill yourself and make your therapist find your body" levels of petty.
Update:

My psychiatrist has apparently gotten the boot and is no longer working for the department. So now I'm back to square one. I'll still be able to get my prescriptions filled but am further away from actually getting treatment than when I started.

Wow. That’s pretty intense. And frustrating. Sorry for the setback. Maybe you could contact the psychiatrist?
