Occult’s perfect world: massive studies are done to determine which drugs work best with each unwanted genetic variation. A patient comes in complaining of anxiety. An attempt is made to determine the genetic variation. When found the correct medicine and dosage are given with very little guess work.

Same process as high cholesterol or blood pressure. Look at the physiology and go forward with the treatment accordingly.

Hmm idk it doesn't sound like there's a lot of money to be made with such a system.

I don't know much about neuroscience but I think they don't know nearly enough about the brain to treat it as such.

The only feature a mental illness needs in order to persist in a species is promiscuity. I suppose obsessive features would help fit into religiosity which has periodically bottle-necked humanity’s evolution in mass genocides.

A trait doesn’t HAVE to be a genetic advantage to persist.

Also, only nature has bottle-necked human population. Religious wars and genocide and so on have never culled population to that degree.

Yeh I think there are lots of traits that exist as sort of byproducts of other traits that were selected for
