If you've been an active member for longer that 3 months you learn that 99% of the time this is not the place you come for support, empathy, compassion, or a shoulder to cry on - you only get made fun of.

So I'm just sticking to the Mission Statement of this place. You calling anyone out is pathetic. You've been around long enough to know better.

Either grow a pair or go find a happy sandbox to play in where everyone will be nice to you.

Makes sense.

There is a major difference between posting your experience, and seeking advice. Dont seek advice from MB.

In all honesty I had decided to quit after I got sober. A 30 year alcoholic, I joined just when the wheels had just started getting loose. Over the next 3-4 years they pretty much came off. This was just a place to post when I was drunk and had nothing else to do - which was pretty much all the time.

Got sober during a 6 month ban, stuck my toes back in to let everyone know I was alive, and then took another 5 or so months off.

Came back cause I actually like some of you ****s.
Also, I hope you all know me well enough by now that if you seriously needed to chat, I'd be all ears.

But trying to sort between the joking around, the partially serious, the made up stuff?, the really serious, etc., is almost impossible unless you've been following every page since the OP.

If I came in mid-thread and bothered you (which I obviously did) why not punch me in the shoulder right there and then? Don't let stuff stew man!

Anyway, Happy Sunday everyone!

Anymore than you would say to the doctors at an insane asylum, "Excuse me I need to ask your patients for some advice."

Lucem Ferre 11-10-2019 01:13 PM

Depends on MB's mood. I think the "Don't do drugs, get help." Advice for elph was good.

The Batlord 11-10-2019 01:16 PM

MB's mood is a cypher you need to figure out before deciding what we're actually saying. Treat a withering blizzard of sarcasm like tea leaves to be read.

Jebuz. I was sitting here thinking, with all of my thinking powers, trying to come up with the perfect metaphor for Melrose Banter.

Bat, you astound me.
Not often.
Not very often at all.
But when you do, it's always worth the wait.
Tooch.

Advice from MB should obviously be taken with a grain of salt, but in this thread people should be able to count on getting support. I think this thread is mostly supportive, but still. It's possible to joke about mental illness or other grave subjects without hurting anyone. The disrespectful jokes are mostly unfunny anyway.
