I'm kinda lucky because this once dormitory meets a halfway house situation I live in is now actually half populated by computer programers and corporate telemarketers...even they are finding it hard

my Apt. is near empty right now because these folks just treat the place as a backup while they travel

you are lucky, and im terribly sorry to hear about the plight of telemarketers.

I dunno why you would wanna live in Texas without a car. You might be able to get around a bit by bus etc, i don't even know, but the **** is too spread out for robust public transit. That's how Florida was too the only good transit was the buses and the train that ran up and down the coast. Because that makes sense.... You can go like 60 miles from West Palm to Miami by train for not much money and it wouldn't take you longer than driving with average traffic. But you can't go just anywhere you really need a car down there.

Wtf? That's all you NPR zombies who think civil rights is letting rich black people into the big boys club. My side knows it's empty idpol and don't care.

I know they said she didn't have enough experience or whatever but do you think she just didn't have as much money to throw around as a venture capitalist with a business degree?

The US and public transport are too often strangers.

it's not like you need to run public transit out into west Texas or something

you can live in the cities here without a car (San Antonio being the real exception)

are you saying Austin already has good public transport?

You know they're not all railroad tycoons right? The point still stands. A bigger fish than her. I mean it is kind of weird to keep your franchisees to the limited pool of people who have both spent many years at the same restaurant and have also saved up enough to buy a restaurant.

You're not a student though.

I don't know that much about the process but from what I know they expect you to have like 10 or 20k to put in if you're going to start one. It's not about extracting some large cash payment in advance from whoever the highest bidder is, the company doesn't want their franchises to go under or to give their brand a bad name so that's why they're picky. They're intrinsically invested in the success of the franchise. They make more from a successful operation than someone just willing to bribe them to jump the line.

there are a lot of buses

I mean passable is subjective... Technically you can get around Greensboro pretty cheap riding the bus but it's ghetto af and the routes are super random and don't usually provide a very direct route. That's sorta how it was in west palm as well. Plus In Greensboro the buses only came every half hour some days or every hour Sunday.... ****ing gay af
