He says he wants to work with both sides. That sounds pretty reasonable to me. Red and Blue have to stop treating each other like the enemy. It really doesn't matter who started it.

^ Yes, this attitude is damaging to the best interests of the country - at some point down the line it needs to be diffused a little.

The Root - Doug Jones Wants America to ‘Move On’ From Trump’s Sexual Assault Allegations, Says He May Vote Republican

^ Although I was initially depressed by this, in the light of rubber soul's comment, it's really a good sign. Also let's not forget that politicians of every colour don't always follow through on what they say in the euphoria of victory, and Doug Jones is using the word "may", which is hardly a promise. His "may" might be swept under the carpet when he is called to vote on partisan issues. He won't even have to recant anything, "Yeah, I said "may" but today it's "maybe not on this occasion."

Yeah, what's the point of electing the "good" party when eight years later, at the very latest, the "bad" party is going to get back control and overturn, gut, or circumvent anything the other did? Possibly more harmful to our country than bad policy is our schizophrenic approach to bad policy.

True, but let's not pretend like being inherently divided is a healthy model for politics.

So what's the solution. Fight until there's only one person left? That sounds pretty lonely to me.

You’re confusing the oppressed and the oppressor.

He wants the people united, at least the ones who can pull their heads out of their asses.

solution is for the dems to grow a ****ing pair imo
I wish so bad you would give up on this and go with the hatred in your core.

The Dems are capitalists man. They are the neo-liberalism you hate.

They don’t need to grow a pair. They need to be publicly castrated. Literally.

stand for your platform, dream bigger, fight harder

the American people agree with their platform on practically every issue why would they compromise

(the answer is they're influenced by their donors)

Because there's a legit conservative base in America that won't be swayed by liberalism. And just look at the blacks and latinos who vote democrat. Aside from the race issues that divide them from the Republican party, what exactly do they have in common with the Democrats? They're religious, culturally conservative, and in general have more in common with the working class white right. If all those people were white they'd be staunchly Republican without a doubt. Conservatism simply is a going ideology in America and should not be ignored simply because it's not trendy with trendy whites. Give the Republican party time to wise up and drop the race politics and they'll be hot with the working class in general regardless of race if the Democrats don't wise up to working class needs. And if both parties do then the Republicans will still speak more to lower class minority sensibilities more than the Democrats do.

You simply can't expect to ignore conservatism.
