^ Yes, this attitude is damaging to the best interests of the country - at some point down the line it needs to be diffused a little.

His "may" might be swept under the carpet when he is called to vote on partisan issues. He won't even have to recant anything, "Yeah, I said "may" but today it's "maybe not on this occasion."
