It drives up housing costs and drives out the lower class. SF has absurd housing costs and a massive homeless population because of this. They have something around five vacant investment homes per homeless person.

Are houses affordable for the homeless in other parts of the country where investment hoarding isnt as much of an issue?

If I was going to start a crusade against homelessness Id be calling for improvements to/support for things that make people homeless, like drugs, education, healthcare causing bankruptcy, etc..

It's a pretty valuable way to actually address the root issue instead of putting a bandaid on the situation like most policies do. Plus, you can write like five laws in a row no biggie or even put multiple facets of addressing homelessness on the same bill.
