Nah, the mentality of staying in an abusive relationship to prove your devotion is the same as the common work ethic: work sucks, grow up, suck it up, prove your worth and they'll love you.

I mean if you've never seen the desperation in someone's face or heard it in their voice when trying to convince you they're down and happy for whatever their job is doing to them then you're trying not to see and hear it.
