Dude

You’re right that all sorts of **** could go wrong and there’s tons of **** about it to pick at but otoh people do get disability, people do get social security, people do get tax returns-

But dude you can make huge lists of potential negative what ifs about anything

How about what if this happened. For me it would be life changing so much for the better. We’d still be Sisyphus but with an easier hill.

Yes, please.

Yeah and again once you start "handing" money to not just poor people but middle class people who'd otherwise be scurred of anything that smelled like socialism I imagine they'll start softening real ****ing quick. Just like how so many working class conservatives hated Obamacare until they got it and realized that they had healthcare now. Obamacare might not be perfect but if it can destigmatize single payer healthcare for working class people still high off Cold War propaganda then UBI could be one more snowflake in a snowball rolling down the hill. Maybe hopefully I don't know.

The typical cost of bull**** degrees according to Fox Business News

https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/...-their-degrees

Quote:

a degree in psychology costs about $161,700 ... education degree typically costs about $171,132 ... A fine arts degree will set a painter or illustrator back $182,352 ... theology degree, which can set you back more than $190,100
Let me qualify calling these “bull****” degrees. I’m not saying these aren’t great subjects to understand in a functional way I’m just saying the cost in secured debt is grossly disproportionate to their financial values and the effort it takes to provide you with the educational services needed to learn the material.

It's probably based on the full APR meaning that it includes the interest and compound interest for the life of the loan. It probably bases it on Navient and other common student loan resources.

It is unless you’re just planning on paying back the principal.

Yes. APR is the full price of the loan (as opposed to the interest rate) and compound interest is interest charged on interest that you already owe if that helps clear things up.

I graduated with no student loans

I forget exactly what it cost per hourly credit but 12 was a full time student and they were definitely less than $100 a credit. I went part time, worked as janitor on campus and washed dishes at night. I remember the books being bull**** expensive. I still had money and time for punk rock shows. That was for my history degree not my education degree.

The thing is tuition is like 10 times as expensive now. The universities should be ashamed.

Also, I know you said you had good teachers who were adjuncts and I believe that but back then the professors were treated much better as well. It doesn’t mean they were better teachers but I was taught by tenured professors because the schools didn’t treat their teachers like fast food workers back then.

Sorry for the nostalgia but it really does keep getting worse all over.
