Say you throw your $5 into the charity bucket the next time you go out. How long will it take that $5 to be transformed into something that will save a life? How much of it will actually go to the people in need?
How do you know you can't do anything about it? How hard have you checked?

How is that okay when somebody is currently hungry?
I'm not judging you for not doing more, I'm pointing out that your logic is flawed and you should at the very least accept that how we're both living our lives is not morally justifiable.

No. He wants people to reject mindless consumerism and build meaningful relationships with their communities and then create a society based on cooperation

I think that proximity is the primer here; the factor that determines how much we care. We care MORE about what we can see, smell, touch, etc. because it affects us more than someone telling us about people suffering in some far-off place. It's just a part of the human condition. It's just how our brains are wired. Sensory perception > hypothetical scenarios. And we can only do so much. No one person can save the world [unless they have a heinous amount of money].

Yes. Exactly. Totally. But people are still dying and it's not subjective and we have at least a few bucks to spare. Or you know we could volunteer at a soup kitchen. Or volunteer anywhere. Or just do something that 99.999% of our fellow humans aren't doing.

We're sitting here, bitching at one another, when we KNOW in our hearts who the people are who are causing the problems. It's an exercise in futility. Would your $5 be better spent feeding into a system that will continue to create more homeless and hungry people, or would it be better spent introducing chaos in hopes of changing the system? That choice is up to you.

I don't know. Let me make a blog post about it. Oh ****, the Jews took it down. I'll just use that $5 for a Pay-Per-View UFC thing.
