Yeah it's not enough to live on but all you have to do is get a minimum wage job and I guess get a room mate and hey ho you actually can live. That's a hell of a lot better than we have now and a far better starting point than I suspect I'll get in my lifetime.

And I imagine if you start giving middle class people making 60k, 70k, 80k an extra 12k a year they'll start to warm up to the idea. Will it directly make the world a better place to give them more money? Not so much, but if all of a sudden they're far more receptive to the idea of raising UBI to 2k a month then that'll be a hell of a thing.
And all those working class conservatives might actually shut up and start taking a hard look at how much they're actively opposed to socialism/democratic socialism/whatever. Plenty of those people wanted to fight tooth and nail against Obamacare but once they got it and then their politicians tried taking it away they lost all that vim and vigor real ****ing quick. Even a thousand bucks a month could be a serious game changer as far as public opinion goes. |

Because **** having to work. $1000 a month will keep you alive The difference between $1000 and $0 is the difference between reading novels and listening to Spotify at the library while a robot cuts fish or me going down there at 6 AM and doing **** that can be automated. If the only way it sells is to give it to everyone then give it to everyone It’s a ****ing prison break It’s a ****ing key out of the prison of work If I moved in with Batlord and his mom we’d have 36g between us collectively Bat and I get girlfriends and it’s 60g. We could have nice family dinners and smoke weed. Seriously what the **** how the **** This would open so many avenues of freedom. You could live in a van. Drive around the country. Work here and there and worst case scenario is you’d be broke until the first of the month. |

And you could not live in a van doing odd jobs without UBI. Your van would break down you’d be strapped to your location. Do you still live with your parents? It seems like you can’t distinguish being poor and being dead broke. It’s like you don’t get how liberating it would be to remove dead broke from the possibilities. Having a little money is so much different than having no money. UBI would remove so much fear from so many people’s lives. |
If my loans were absolved, I'd quit my job today for 1k a month.
