Maybe if UBI became a reality, people could start having hobbies. I think I've ranted about this before, but I was recently on a date and I started talking about some writing I'm working on that will probably be my first novella/novel length piece of writing and she responded with "wow, published, number one best seller, lots of money that would be awesome!" I told her that getting published or getting money or fame wasn't the goal and that I was just writing this for my own enjoyment and development. I was met with a deer in the headlights stare. I've had way too many conversations like that.
