Health insurance is only worth a **** if it’s worth a ****.
I’m not playing semantics when I say people need health care not health insurance.

This. My mother would be dead right now if she didn't have my grandparents to help pay for a lot of the medical bills she picked up over the last few years fighting a very rare disease. And yes she has insurance.

An artery that restricted her stomach and prevented her from eating, passed off by most doctors as anorexia. If my grandfather hadn't been a surgeon who just so happened to have dealt with the condition it may never have been caught in time.

She was basically starving to death until she got an operation. Like, 80 lbs/36 kg or something. She still can't regain her weight because the operation simply is not a complete fix. But hey **** socialized medicine cause she just so happened to be lucky enough to have well off relatives and didn't wind up an Auschwitz victim.

I was trying to check someone's page on Facebook but she must have deleted it. A friend of mine died of something similar to what your mother apparently had. I forgot the name of the condition but it involved an artery that was affecting her eating. I do remember her sister saying that the skin was hanging from her at the end. Anyway, I'm glad your Mom pulled through, Charles.

Seriously though, that must have been pretty terrifying and frustrating for you, Batty. Glad she's on the road to recovery at least. Jesus: they'll blame anything on anything won't they? Anorexia? Were they serious? What woman of (presumably) your mother's age would be suffering from that? It's like, once they come up with an answer that fits, **** it if it's the wrong one: let's not dig any deeper cos we're doctors and we rock, yeah?
