Uber Lyft or Cab

Why did Uber and lyft catch on? If you think they’re better than cabs please explain why. I’ve never ridden in an Uber or a lyft. I’ve taken countless cabs.

Uber is generally waaay cheaper whenever I've compared prices. Although one time after a show Uber had ridiculous surge pricing that made a cab more affordable. I walked.

Uber doesn’t have flat rates like cabs?

Frownland 11-13-2017 04:51 PM

Rates increase based on demand.

If you punch in your pick up and destination does it tally your tab on the spot?

Yep, and unless you tell your driver to take a detour/make extra stops, that's the price you'll get.

Actually I think if there's absurd traffic then there's some additional time fees.

I prefer Lyft and Uber over cabs by a long shot. Here's why:
  • I can usually get one to come pick me up at my house within five minutes. Cabs are hard to find in my neighborhood, and if I call to order one, they may or may not show up on time or at all.
  • You can see exactly where they are on the map which means when it's crappy out you can stay in the bar or whatever until they're about to pull up instead of standing on the sidewalk trying to flag down a cab.
  • The drivers are generally friendlier than cab drivers and the cars are almost always cleaner than cabs.
In my experience, the only place a cab is more convenient is the airport since there's always a line of them waiting.

Thanks

Uber are waaaaaaaaay better than cabs for the reasons already mentioned. Only issue is the lack of them in my area, but they are always around when I need to get one back home from work.

Friendlier, safer and cheaper. Also the cars are usually in much better condition and play better music in my experience.

when the uber driver gives you the aux chord >>>

unfortunately ubers have been banned from my province, they’re having a tough time in Canada atm. the cab drivers are pretty cool around here though. i’m one of those people who would rather talk the drivers ear off than sit in silence.

Cheaper is all I give a **** about. If I don’t like the music I tell the cabbie to turn it the **** off. Safer? Friendlier? Who ****ing cares? Safer? Really? Are you scared of cabbies? I love a cab driver who doesn’t **** around and hauls ass a to b.

Goofle 11-13-2017 11:31 PM

I meant safer for different reasons but you vent away.

OccultHawk 11-14-2017 12:32 AM

What reasons pussy

All of their driving data is stored which will likely deter drivers from committing crimes. For example, when they stop at a light the length of time spent there is registered.

You don't care about convenience?

OccultHawk 11-14-2017 06:21 AM

Cabs never struck me as inconvenient though

Those are some serious crimes.

You ever try hailing one on a street that isn't right downtown?
