And no, tyranny is not synonymous with fascism. Fascism is a specific political system with policies that can be kind of nebulous at times due to its half-baked nature, but it's still not just another word for a dictatorship.

Wanna hear a conspiracy theory? The Spanish Civil War preceded World War II. If this turns into the second Spanish Civil War and with the saber rattlings of Putin, Trump, etc., could this be a forebearer of World War III?

California is also about fifteen percent of the US economy. A Calexit would not be good for America's economic interests.

Good question. My guess is Trump wouldn't give two cents since he's fixated on North Korea. Putin appears to want to bring back the old Soviet Union so I would guess he'd back the nationalist Spain like the rest of Europe at the moment. I'm just seeing a bad parallel from a historical standpoint when it was Franco's Nationalists against the Left-wing Republicans (talk about an oxymoron). Hitler and Mussolini sided with Franco while other governments officially stayed neutral while private citizens would fight with the Republicans mostly. It didn't lead to World War II directly but it was a period of global unrest not unlike today. It's pretty scary stuff to think about.
