The Official SCOTUS Thread

The Supreme Court has recently shifted towards a conservative majority, with a high probability of the current administration getting to choose another judge. A lot of important decisions are coming up, so I thought I would make a general Supreme Court thread because I think that people pay too much attention to the other branches.

Gerrymandering
Gay Cakes
Mandatory employer dispute waivers

Exposing The U.S. Supreme Court's Secret Decisions

^ Looks like they gave up on the project in 2015.

Kennedy will be the swing vote on Gerrymandering issue. He's not tipping his hand yet.

Sure do!

I have not yet been able to compare Trump's presidency to Hillary's, but I'm guessing she would have had a congressional block like Obama did until the majority went to the Dems.

but it's fine I guess

they're only lifetime appointments

I doubt they'd have gotten to the court if there was a Republican congressional majority but whatever me and the 20 other people who voted for Jill Stein take full responsibility for Gorsuch.

Now let's actually talk law.

What do you think of the art defense?

Frownland 10-04-2017 01:14 PM

Since these aren't predetermined cakes but unique ones made upon order, they're more likely to be considered an art than a commodity. Given that, if you want a painter to do a portrait of you and your husband or black spouse or whatever someone doesn't agree with and the painter says no, should they be compelled to create the piece?
