@elph you might be interested in the book The Faith Instinct by Nicholas Wade. it it all about the topic at hand and how social behaviors evolved over time for survival etc. and argues that faith and religion stems from a biological need/drive (which i always thought was pretty obvious but it's well articulated by the author). it's a good read. |

i would argue the inverse, that biological wiring sets the culture(s). being in tune with and adapting to new environments/cultures is a survival mechanism. our biology is what makes us social, not the other way around.
