Welp, he's back. I don't see how he's not the Republican Nominee, even if Desantis challenges.
'Make America great and glorious again': Trump defies Republican critics by officially announcing he IS running for president in 2024 for the third time - and says U.S. 'can't take four more years' of Biden and the Democrats The GOP made a deal with the devil in 2016. If Trump doesn't get the nomination, he'll split the ticket and tear down the GOP. Time to pay the piper. Last edited by SGR; 11-15-2022 at 10:29 PM. |

I dunno dude. I feel like Trump isn't the same guy he was in 2016. It's not so obvious he's going to crush DeSantis even... what's the nickname... de sanctimonious? Are you ****in kidding me?
If you watch the 2016 gop primary debates Trump was actually very quick on his feet and able to captivate the audience with bravado and one liners. I haven't seen that type of Trump in a long time. If he rallies support this time it will be through election denier cult leader type energy. If you watch any of his modern rallies they play somber QAnon music in the background and **** lol. |

Agreed but even so I don't see there not being a Republican civil war if he doesn't just bow out and clearly that's not happening, and nobody's actually excited about Desantis besides never Trumpets.

My guess is neither Trump nor DeSantis will get nominated. The frontrunner always seems to fall after the early going. have no idea what direction the GOP will take, maybe a principled conservative?
Either way, Trump is no doubt a threat to the Repubs. |

Delusional take. And there are no principled conservatives.

It's a numbers game. If 10 Republicans run and stay in until Super Tuesday, Trump wins the nomination. But the GOP seems to be setting up for a brawl. They don't want 2024 to go like 2022. I think the 2024 race will look like the Democrats 2016 race.
McConnell smashed Rick Scott. And he knew the outcome months ahead. They'll let him run things, and he'll say to other candidates "If you run in 2024, we're not sending money for your next campaign." If you're, say, Marco Rubio, that's a threat. |

I'm not counting him out I just think you guys are hyping him up and counting DeSantis out.
DeSantis and Trump actually largely have the same fans I think. He's less like a Jeb Bush and more like a better looking and more charismatic Ted Cruz from what I've seen of him. I definitely wouldn't underestimate his appeal to the far right. As for Trump right now as far as I can tell he's just riding on pure reputation and the cult like following of his fans. Since the maga crowd just lost the midterms (effectively) and DeSantis won pretty resoundingly. It seems to me like the tides are shifting. Not winning reelection is bad enough but failing to capitalize on the first midterms of your rival's administration just shows a complete lack of momentum to me. So I just have to wonder what it is that has people convinced Trump is a shoe in as the GOP candidate. A lot of people seem more confident that Trump will be the nominee than they are that Biden will be. It's crazy. Also, to the idea that he necessarily splits the ticket with a 3rd party run, I'm not so sure about that either. I kinda don't really think he wants it that bad.
