People saying they care about Climate Change yet at the same time, wanting cheaper oil and even suddenly get concerned about rising oil prices when the oil prices gets high.

Oil is a type of fossil fuel for those who are wondering, burning fossil fuels causes climate change which is why getting so concerned about rising oil prices while caring about climate change at the same time is soo confusing.
That being said, shouldn't we have car free cities, so that no one has to worry about rising oil prices, no one has to drive gas polluting and space taking cars, and ultimately just walk instead with their own foot, or ride a bike?

It has happened before at some point, especially in Spain...

What if you're unable to walk, or your health is too bad to even think of riding a bike?

Don't know if we'll ever get to the point of being car free, but easier access to public transportation and more public transportation would be a good first step. It would be amazing to have high speed trains that connected all large cities across the USA (I'm thinking something similar to Japan's high sped rail network). In addition to this, a greater reach of ride sharing apps and autonomous vehicles, especially in more rural areas would be great. It would save lives too in the short term (less people driving under the influence). Won't be cheap though and hopefully the regulators can somewhat keep pace with innovation (they usually don't so we'll inevitably get some more horror stories, as we already have).

In addition, e-bikes are becoming more popular and are a low-physical impact way to transport yourself, even seniors could use them. Again, it would be ideal if we had interconnected bike paths across the country. Would probably be an economic boon for businesses to serve such a network (hotels, motels, restaurants, etc)
