Their families are recruited to cartels, threatened with murder, the would-be murders are above the law, and the US does nothing. I sometimes wonder if people are pro-open borders because Trump wants a wall. For all the warmongering that goes on in this country, you'd think sending in troops to clear out cartels and stabilize the countries with neighboring parterns would be something we could all get behind. If there was a real opportunity to build a life in the country you were born in, I'm guessing most people would take it. Which would satisfy both the left and the right. To me that's the objective to go for. America needs immigration to survive. No OECD country breeds to replacement, and most of our small businesses and real talent come in from abroad. But the way things currently shake out is that both the drug-war profiteers win, and corporate america wins with this status quo iimmigration. Which includes Trump. He's prevented nothing because it's good for big business, private prisons, and Federal contracts for any idiot who says they can build cages, or repair a grid after hurricanes. |

Talking about ignoring why they're coming in favour of being welcoming sounds like the two are mutually exclusive, which I don't think is true

I do think there’s a lot false advertising and misunderstanding about that America really is in much of the third world. Many people, do indeed, find life here worse than it was at home.

Americans generally speaking love to give opinions on things they don't know anything about. I'm against voter suppression, but some of these people should be ashamed they vote when they're so easily manipulated. |

Sounds like a great thing to succumb to.

No. I do not think that is a bad life. I think that's a life of entitled people who don't want "the other" coming in and taking their ****. Who are only told "gangs are coming in" and go vote for Trump. |

I'm all for saying the Professional Managerial Class sold out the rust belt. But how they choose to respond to it, and their own lack of self-involvement blows my mind. Amazon's HQ2 is not coming to your former factory town because the governor cut corporate taxes, my friend. Stop the urban sprawl, support policies that concentrate people closer to major cities, and invest in yourselves. You can't cut taxes low enough for people to care about you. Without State/Federal spending you're never going to become a prosperous location. |
