Yeah it's a hell of a gamble and a longshot that humans would ever give up their vaunted "freedom" to an AI but the alternative is for humans to keep running the world and who wants that?

What was the reason you participated in the primary? Presumably one issue. Do you not think that issue is advanced in a Biden administration? I really think people are undervaluing Congressional control, and way way way over valuing the Presidency.

Why do people think the White House means a damn thing after Obama? Why do people assume Bernie would have done anything in the White House?

tbh I had little faith he would ever get his agenda through but it was worth trying both from the vantage point of strategy and curiosity. I mean Biden might throw some crumbs here and there but nothing that I can get excited about. Nothing that the democratic establishment doesn't always run on. Part of the entire appeal of Bernie to me was the ongoing attempt to change/shift the democratic party. I agree Congress is undervalued and I also voted for the progressive candidate in the primaries fora position in Congress here but she lost. I do think it's worthwhile to challenge moderate incumbents in congressional races. I also think it would be important symbolically to have someone like Sanders as president, even assuming he can't accomplish the bulk of his agenda.

1. Why do you need to be excited? Do you want the candidate to jerk you off while they're at it?
2. Haven't we had enough symbolism? Can't we have some substance once in a while?

As I've said here before, Biden is the first candidate in a long time that no one believes is going to "save us" and I think that's amazing.

I'm fine with the robots taking over but I wouldn't necessarily count on humans having a place in such a society.

We could very likely be as irrelevant to their society as chimps are to ours.

Are you're assuming they'd have an intelligence comparable to ours with our self-interest and our communal nature that leads us to band together to exploit those not in our band?

I'm assuming we're talking about AGI which means they would exceed us in every domain of intelligence.

But I can see any form of intelligence forming a type of self interest even if it doesn't necessarily have consciousness.
